As a travel agent, I would say book a tour if you can fit one in. I know it's hard to do but you will enjoy the places so much more when you get a little history - and if that sounds boring, book a food tour! You get a dose of history while trying local treats!

Omg, I just got back from Rome myself!! I work for one of the Big 3 US airlines (💙) and I received the trip off of airport standby. It was an absolute DREAM!! It was my first international with the company, and my very first time overseas. The qualified language speaker on the pairing took us all around town and showed us all of the famous sites like the Trevi Fountain, The Pantheon, and The Colosseum. I also got to try some authentic Italian food. We were scheduled to leave the next day; however, the flight got cancelled due to a major maintenance issue, so we got another day in Rome. We all went on the Hop On Hop Off bus, we went shopping, I purchased my first ever designer bag, and we ate more food lol. So far, my best layover ever!! I wish I could have ran into you!! I am so excited for Summer flying!! I hope to run into you in the airport one day. Safe and happy flying to you, Kat!! 😘😘

Rome is absolutely amazing. I was there last June and I had the best experience there. The food OMG it’s so good, the people so nice,the atmosphere was great and all the stuff there is to do. Can’t wait to go back.

Thanks for sharing your trip with us. I've visited all those places you visited and I agree with all your assessments. I paid for a walking tour but it was worth it as I didn't want to figure out our route etc. I just like being guided on my tours. I think the name of the place you couldn't remember was either the People or Roman Forum.

Most people think that being a flight attendant is just walking the aisles and serving meals and drinks. Your videos show not only the perks, but also the hard work and training that go into the job. My trip to Greece is in October, and I will be more thankful and considerate to the flight attendents.

I can never sleep on the plane going to Europe and just try to relax and may kind of doze. I never sleep on landing. We get to the hotel, get settled. and off we go to get our bearings around the hotel. We find the tube/metro stop, what lines come into it, is there a Starbucks (yes, yes yes!!!!!) , grocery stores, bakeries and so on. We get an early dinner and hit an early bed time. Taylor has a great bathroom but still in Italy , NO shower curtain. LOL I was just godsmacked. It's impossible to keep water off the floor. LOL It's easier to acclimate when you have more time than you do.

When deadheading (dressed casually as any passenger 😉) ... do you need to change to uniform upon arrival to an international destination? Perhaps for crew exit, customs etc?

Rome is the most amazing city. I've been to Italy 3 times but only visited Rome on one trip. It's like a historical theme park, the whole thing, in real life. I've been to Milan, Venice, Florence, Bologna and they're all gorgeous, but Rome is another level. Every road you turn, you see some famous monument or church or something you recognise. Having been born/raised in Australia, you just don't get that kind of history (I live in Melbourne, my parents migrated here in the late 1950's. So I speak Italian with my parents, we still have a lot of relatives etc over there - although we're from over near Venice - not that anyone's really interested in these dynamics 🤦🏻‍♀️😄) However, flying from Melbourne to Rome is not something I enjoy... Two 10 hour flights back to back and you start thinking the +$10k they want for 1st class is reasonable!

Not sure if I understand logistics of deadhead… you seemed in civilian clothes on plane but were in uniform when you got to room… did you change in airport?

Maybe you are confusing deadheading as a flight attendant or pilot (which is working) with simply sitting on the plane as an airline employee. They wore uniforms the entire flight. They did not change to disembark.

Don't give up and be honest with yourself by trying to look back and think about what mistakes you may have made or what you could've done better. It's very competitive but you can do it!
