katniss & peeta || real or not real?

to anyone who calls Peeta "weak," i hope you step on a lego.
(sorry for the audio, sometimes there are pops in the dialogue. it's embedded within the audio so there wasn't really anything I can do to fix it)
I believe it was about a year ago when I had gotten back into this series and read the books, and I was trying to make edits of them but never finished any. And now, once again, getting back into the series and rewatching the movies over and over, I finally revised one of the edits I was trying to make and finished it :)
also, I admit, it's super late to post an edit of them since it's literally been over a decade almost since the series came out. But I love them so much that I edited them anyway ❤
side note: there really should be more Peeta Mellarks out there in the world. Such a soft, kind heart, and it's sad that men like him are not really shown in media that much either because he isn't considered traditionally masculine. But I really want to see more men in media like that :) Really goes to show that the Hunger Games was ahead of its time.

this sparks joy. literally. i love the books and movies and peeta and katniss. i just remember reading the books and adoring peeta because he was just so open with his emotions and feelings but he was also so kind and caring. he was there for katniss even when he knew she didn't love him (yet). i always felt josh did peeta justice, that he and Jennifer did fantastically. and this edit...wow, its absolutely beautiful, the parallels, voiceovers. *chefs kiss*

Same. I was following one of these KZbinrs who said if she was Katniss, she'd dump weakass Peeta in an instant for Gale. I unsubbed almost instantaneously. Peeta wasn't weak. In fact, Peeta, in the face of all aridity and disenchantment, he exercised kindness even though Katniss pushed him away over and over again. He stepped into the 74th Hunger Games in resignation that he'll die but at least he hoped he could help Katniss survive. And even though it was obvious that everyone else was gunning for Katniss to win, he never resented her for that even if it was their life on the line. Some even say that Katniss only liked Peeta because she owed him. Which might be instrumental in having her guard down but Katniss fell in love because Peeta never hung it over her and was always patient with her, even if they fought and he never shied away from calling her out, he was always ready and welcoming whenever Katniss came to him. He wasn't insistent or pushy with his affections unlike Gale. Without surrender, Peeta tried to be kind to almost everyone. Lemme pull up my essay, just a sec

So good!!! Catching Fire is still one of my favorite movies. I think it’s one of the best book adaptations of all time. This brought me back to my love of the series.

I adore this edit so much. Gorgeous. The visual parallels and the dialogue you’ve chosen is spot on. I still shipped Katniss and Peeta, but I always had more of a penchant for Katniss and Gale, just because of the two's long friendship, understanding and chemistry between them (I don’t count book 3 Gale's actions as canon). This edit is such a great ode to how amazing Peeta is as a person and the beauty of the fake dating trope. Great couple
