Kari does such a good job with their engines and passenger cars. The Hiawata is beautiful and the observation car is awesome.

Yeah, there was a big sale, plus I had saved up rewards at model train stuff so was hard for me to pass up

I bought several years ago the Silver Streak Zepher because of the movie by the same name, I'm not disappointed in the way it looks or the way it runs (DCC) my favorite constant, that I run a lot.

I have one but in DC it runs great. I need to get the lights for the cars and maybe put decoder in engine. Looks great on the new layout. Thanks for sharing. GOD BLESS 🚂💖🚂💖🚂💖🚂💖

I have HO Kato engines from a long time ago. Haven’t had a layout to run them in decades but they were my favorite back then. Hoping this year I can build a small layout and run them again.

I got the DC version myself for Christmas 😍 Beautiful train for sure. Love the lights on these units also. The box sets are so nice.

Thanks, Steve. Living in Kansas City I know I need this. Sure wish KATO would have built it with interior lights so I don't have to install them!

Yeah, I’ve installed their lighting kits before and it is a bit janky to get everything in and working correctly.

Copy that but once I did a teensy bit of contact bending I have been able to keep them lit. Do you have an idea on how to soften the bright daylight blue-ish glow of the LED to make the look more prototypical? @@StevesTrains

@@cliffjones6924I don’t know, maybe try some type of yellowish film over the lights. Not something I’ve tried to do before. But yes, the led color temperature of the light sets for the passenger train cars is usually not ideal.

Well, full disclosure the KATO light kit comes with a teeny weeny yellow piece of plastic slightly bigger than a staple that is supposed to warm the color. I cannot figure out how to make it work and amazingly I haven't found anything on KZbin yet to show me! @@StevesTrains

I don't buy that many North American prototype trains in N or HO anymore but I might mysteriously end up with the non DCC version somehow....

Hi. You are wrong to think that because it is DCC it runs much more smoothly and at low speeds. The problem you have here is not that DCC system is better in this case, but that your DC Throttle has a poor performance !. For your knowledge, a high-efficiency DC Throttle performs much better than a DCC one in this case, but for knowing that and then be able to make a judgment about it, you have to know in deep the high-end DC Throttles, first.
