Katowice za 20 lat zmiażdżą dynamicznym rozwojem resztę polskich miast poza oczywiście Warszawą. I piszę to z Krakowa. W Katowicach i w ogóle na Śląsku są milsi ludzie !

I was in Poland 9 months ago I traveled all over the country by car, every city I was in was beautiful and the people were wonderful I was so happy with my trip.

One of the best city in Poland imo. Very comfortable to live in. A lot of greenery, parks, small lakes near downtown. Beautiful architecture - a lot of historic pre-war tenement houses, Mannerist and Art Nouveau also the town is a trail of Polish Modernist Architecture. Today super modern with glass office and residential buildings. Katowice also have very low traffic index and pretty well developed network of bicycle paths. After living many years in Gdańsk we moved to Katowice and we are totally impressed with this city. Much much easier to live tham Tricity (Gdynia or Gdańsk). Katowice are not sleeping, there is always something to do. Absolutely stunning and developing all the time, year by year.

A good comparison of Katowice to Manchester. Secondly, Katowice is a very comfortable city to live in. You should visit the mining district of Katowice called Nikiszowiec and the Silesian Park. Bigger than Hyde Park.

In Kattowitz der Bergbausiedlung Nickischschacht haben die deutsche Architekten aus Berlin gebaut fur die deutschen Oberschlesier! Kattowitz gehört damals zu Deutschen Reich kulturell geopolitisch!

Przede wszystkim przed przyjazdem do Katowic, dobrze jest zapoznać się z historią miasta i architektury oraz nieco odmienną od polskiej, kulturą, językiem i historią ludności Śląska, a również historią całego regionu. Tą prawdziwą, nie tą zakłamaną przez komunistów narracją historyczną, która do dziś funkcjonuje w polskich szkołach. Dopiero z taką wiedzą można spróbować zrozumieć Katowice. Warto też zobaczyć zdjęcia Katowic z przed kilku lat oraz z czasów Polski komunistycznej i porównać z obecnym wyglądem miasta. W Katowicach jest wiele muzeów, które warto zobaczyć np. muzeum policji śląskiej z czasów przed WW II, kiedy to województwo śląskie po włączeniu do Polski posiadało statut województwa organicznego (autonomię) i własną policję. Śląsk jest nieporównywalny do innych miast polskich, a już zestawienie z Manchester zupełnie nietrafione. Jedną z cech, która różni Śląsk od innych regionów w Polsce, są np. granice miast. Ktoś, kto jest spoza Śląska może być zaskoczony, że przechodząc na drugą stronę ulicy znajdzie się w innym mieście. I tak właśnie jest z pięknym Parkiem Śląskim, który jest największym parkiem miejskim w Europie i w którym można znaleźć wiele atrakcji (np. Planetarium-najstarsze i największe w Polsce, ZOO, Legendia - najstarszy lunapark w Polsce, Muzeum "Górnośląski Park Etnograficzny" itp.) a który położony jest na terenie miasta Chorzów, granicząc z miastami: Siemianowice Śląskie i Katowice. Z centrum Katowic kilka przystanków komunikacją miejską, samochodem nawet kilka minut. Ulica "Złota" , to jedna z tych ulic należących do Katowic, gdzie po przejściu na jej drugą stronę znajdziemy się w chorzowskim Parku Śląskim 😉

I'm from Ruda Slaska, near Katowice. In Silesia we say: "a tak tak, na niewtajemniczonych robi to spore wrażenie" and we love it.

Cities with a market 'RYNEK' were located under the so-called Magdabur law. They were a set of town privileges first developed by Otto I, Holy Roman Emperor (936-973) and based on the Flemish Law which regulated the degree of internal autonomy within cities and villages granted by the local ruler. Named after the German city of Magdeburg, these town charters were perhaps the most important set of medieval laws in Central Europe. The Magdeburg rights were adopted and adapted by numerous monarchs, including the rulers of Bohemia, Hungary, Poland and Lithuania, a milestone in the urbanization of the region which prompted the development of thousands of villages and cities. As you see, Poland was and always will be in central Europe.

I'm surprised at how negative the comments are about Katowice. I'm from Scotland and love being here - there's more traditional architecture and pretty streets than shown in this video, some in the heart of the city where there's good nightlife. If I just wander around aimlessly here, I will find something nice. I agree it's not worth going out of your way to visit if you've seen little/none of Poland, but only because so much of Poland is exceptional. Katowice is miles from a "shithole" or unpleasant city like some comments said. Comparing to Manchester is a bit of a disservice lol. Lastly if you like cigars, go to Caballero, probably the nicest cigar lounge in all of Poland with a good selection of drinks. You will not be disappointed.

Go to Bielsko-Biała and the Beskidy mountains. It is all near Katowice.

One thing I noticed is how clean the streets were. No ONE single bit of trash in the street; I never been to Manchester, but Ive been around many other cities in England and Wales and ONE thing they all have in common there is rubbish all over the streets, not even the city centres are clean anymore. I bet the trains are all in time too 😂

Should've gotten onto the tram and go about 7 stops to arrive into the city of Chorzow (neighbouring city in the Upper Silesian Metropolis) and visit the Silesian Park (which is twice the size of the Central Park in New York)...

You are not the only tourist in Katowice. There are a lot of tourists in this city, but most of them on weekends. There are also a lot of foreigners living in Katowice. About 10% of the city's population.

We are visiting Krakow in a couple of weeks for a few days. Was thinking to take the train , about an hour , to Katowice. Do u think it's worth a visit for a few hours ?

bro missed out so many things in Katowice... You have a terrace view on cathedral; Nikiszowiec - a picturesque mining settlement which is now a city district; Silesian park with observatory, zoo, cable carts and theme park. And probably few more places to see, especially if you into architecture

I have been to so so many cities in Poland now, including Katowice only 2 weeks ago, and so far, I think it’s my least favorite. But what it does do, is show how beautiful almost all the other cities are in Poland.

I wonder about this memorial and your comment, very weird? The german had invate poland in 39 so far so true. But as far as I know not this town. Because this town was german. The whole region, this is because its called Schlesien and Schlesien was german. Very suspicious and strange: so polish kids shooting in a german city on people in 1943? Makes no sense. Imagine scottish kids shooting on people in london and then got a memorial years later. Maybe you ve read not tho complete story?! I m not an expert, just watched for a video of Kattowitz. Because I know german refugees who were distributed from this town. Beside this I find the video of the town interesting. But there s this damn difference between the heritage of the old buildings so pretty and the new ones so cold and iron. But this is the same all over the world in these days. I am worried about the new kids get used to this new cold iron architekture and loose the heritage of the others you see so far on your video.

You are right, Katowice was German and I agree about the architecture, we have a lot of beautiful historical buildings but many of them are neglected, the city authorities prefer to build glass and steel nightmares instead of saving the heritage and beauty of the old buildings, this is one of the saddest things for me. I am a native Silesian and a native of Katowice. Greetings.

Who the hell told you that Katowice was built by the Soviets? Katowice belonged to Germany and most of the old buildings were built by Germans! The Soviets burned down part of the city when they occupied it, so be so kind and don't talk nonsense and remember that Russia only destroys, not builds!
