This song has gotten me through so many hospital stays battling my autoimmune disease that has almost killed me many times. Last time a year and a half ago, I was admitted for two weeks & I had a surgically placed tube and bag coming out of my kidney and other surgeries done. My doctors thought I was going to bleed to death. For the rest of my stay, I would just sit in my hospital bed and play this song in my headphones and cry. It has given me so much strength to keep fighting this battle and Keep moving forward no matter how much pain, how many surgeries and drains and things I have coming out of me....no matter how many hospital stays, meds, etc. “I will still rise.”

This song is in my soul. I've escaped death multiple times in my life. From spiraling into a deep darkness following my mother's passing - to a vicious car accident spiraling at 360 on an interstate highway - to a heart aneurysm and flatlining after surgery and remaining in a coma for 10 days then months of rehab - to a severe head injury and needing 50 stitches on my scalp- to collapsing and suffering trauma and deep wounds to my head and body (just to name a few of my fights). I tell my friends I have seen the Final Destination movies and eventually death has to get you at some point. I have to believe with all those things occurring and me still standing - it has not been my time. I feel weak so many times but I will sit and listen to this song and realize it is actually an autobiographical telling of what I have been through and who I am. To those of you out there who feel that weakness and who may lose their way - don't ever doubt yourself. Victory is in your veins - Don't ever negotiate - Always fight.
