I am a 36 year old Mom to a 1 year old girl who is fighting cancer right now. This song is everything to me right now. Everything. We have been through a living hell fighting this thing with the most aggressive treatments and surgeries and I hold onto this song as a source of strength. It helps me when nothing else does. I'm waiting for brain surgery to remove a 3 cm cystic mass in my right cerebellum right now in the hospital. This is my power song. This song is a song that helped me at the beginning of my sobriety. You really don't understand the concept of a vocal minority, do you? There is no single consciousness on the internet, no general consensus of anything. Instead what you get is one group saying they hate X but love Y then another group that says they hate Y but love X. You're always going to find people that don't like something about whatever is put out there and they're always going to be loud about it, that's how the internet works. "I don't get it, people say they want one thing then when they finally get it they say they want something else". Because it's not a singular opinion, you're picking out the negatives given by different people with different thoughts and tastes. You can't attribute them all to a single entity with conflicting preferences like you are, that doesn't make any sense and serves nothing to further any argument other than that you don't understand that people are individuals even online.

You know I'm actually kinda impressed with Katy. Once again, she surpasses my expectations of her being just some dull bubble-gum pop singer. Some of her songs and videos actually are really creative. The parachute was genius. I wouldn't have thought of it that way. It appears to me, the parachute represented that the struggles you go through (in the video the parachute was a struggle for her almost the entire time) can be played to your advantage (when she literally rose, hence the name of the song). Great metaphor. Good job Katy :D
