Yes, her music is very mainstream and mass produced, but dr luke is a very good producer and he understands melody very well. The whole way the melody contrasts with the lyrics and the way she sings them makes the song really good. It's not complicated or anything, but just like modern, minimalist art, it is still art. Katy Perry is actually extremely talented, she has been in a rock band since 11 years old. She didn't just get told to play some song because she has a pretty face.
