As part of the 2019 GEICO High School Football Showcase, Texas powers Katy and North Shore met on August 29th on ESPNU. In 2018, North Shore defeated Katy twice including late in the 6A postseason tournament. The latest edition of the matchup came down to the final minutes.

David Vega all them schools are college prep schools that recruit. And for just that alone I pay little to no attention to the football out west. Louisiana, Georgia, and Florida (except St Thomas and IMG) are better quality

Katy is and always will be one of the most well coached teams in the state. Coach Gary Joseph is a legend, It wouldn’t surprise me if they met again in the playoffs. They always play close.

Ron Hoff had 33 carries for 219 yards. Evans, the reason this game was on ESPNU in the first place, only had 9 carries for 39 yards. Jordan Patrick had 7 receptions for 169 yards. Katy had 458 total yards to North Shore's 228, and only punted once. North Shore lost something like 10 players to cramping issues during the game, which tells me they didn't take the offseason seriously. Katy did, and it showed.

What separates Texas from every other state (yes, including California and Florida) is not just the quality of the teams, but the amount of quality teams. They are always insanely deep. Zach wasn’t going to make much of a difference because it wasn’t enough blocking in the run game. If NS o-line was blocking like Katy’s, they would have run Evans more. No sense of potential I jury. Katy just made more big plays in crucial times. Coach Kay is no fool. He’s not going to really open the playbook until they play Katy in the playoffs. Oh and also keep in mind that #19 for NS didn’t play. He’s the one who really gave Katy a tough time last year. Good game but NS has a few rookie in the secondary and Katy went right at them. I see a lot of comments on Texas HSFB, it’s not like other states where private schools run the state because of recruiting. These are two of the best teams in the state and they are PUBLIC SCHOOLS. Limited attendance and no recruiting. The guys living in the school zones go there. I’ve played in cypress ISD ,Katy /cypress ,Texas all these guys know each other went to middle school just ended up in different high schools by zoned . This is home talent not state or country. Can y’all cali fans respect that ? And Texas doesn’t allow there teams to play out of state football games so stop requesting it. I worked with a guy who went to schools with Evans so yes he’s in the zone he knows evens personally went to middle and high school with the kid. Stays on the same block.

The amount of PEOPLE that live in the Greater LA area is enough! BUT Mater Dei does have a lineman from ALLEN high school that transferred to the the school this year Donovan Ford who is a 4 star tackle. But remember there are people in Cali that have been complaining to the CIF with raised question on "the transfers". Basically those two schools are "stacking the Deck" so High ( Not to mention there competing for the state championship) that the teams like Centennial who before 2017 were beating both those schools don't have a chance In hell (as of recently) in competing. I personally LOVE it! I BELIEVE y'all did that to compete with the rest of the Nation...ESPECIALLY the EAST COAST! So it's dope for the fans of the game Bad for CALIFORNIA teams
