She is everyone's favorite Russian and she has come to expose herself! She is the fan favorite of the drag community and will be talking #DragRace, #Rupaul, #Trixie, her new book, her struggle with addiction, and so much more. NOTHING and NOBODY is off limits. I sit down with the one and only #Katya for a special interview.

it’s funny to me that Katya said don’t meet your heroes and that your expectations will lead to resentment. I bumped into Katya out of drag in Melbourne and she was exactly how I expected her to be. So authentic

Katya showcases the art of being oneself, AND a good person - which is way harder than being a bad person, and why people will choose to be the latest more often than not. Katya is a good person, in-and-out of drag, which is saying A LOT in today's society, consumerism, politics, etc. They choose to be themselves AND a good-person, which is, I'll admit - at LEAST - a BIT admirable, amirite?

She does, it's not just a perceived action from you @B.S. Bernasconi. It's a very popular action among drug addicts & alcoholics. I'm an addict going on 3 years clean & I've noticed it for years in group therapy or even just talking to a fellow addict, there's just so much shame & the feeling of "im not worthy" or "likeable" or "attracting in any way". Definitely comes with the territory of being afflicted with that horrible disease, repressed memories of abuse for being homosexual & underestimating how much talent, love & appreciation exists within a human being.

I found the Lizzo quote extremely powerful, more so than Rupaul's tbh. “I just want everyone to remember, if you can love me, you can love yourself. Every single day. If you can love my big, black ass at this tiny, tiny little desk, you can love yourself.” Because Rupaul says you have to love yourself before loving others and sometimes you don't know how to love yourself. Lizzo says "see? you already love someone, me, now you can do the same thing to you". Really nice quote.

Really enjoy your interview style, Joseph. Respectful, letting her talk, asking the right questions. The only tip I'd have is maybe have a lav mic (assuming you have one on Katya) on yourself as well (edit: I now see you're also wearing a lav mic, but it sounds quite different from when you're talking compared to Katya, is that possible) and stay with that sound even when you go to the wide shots, as now the sound sometimes gets a little 'hollow' when you go to one of those wider shots :-) But overall a great interview, I really enjoyed watching it, you have new subscriber!

Coming in late, but just finished watching Unhhhh (every episode very quickly, yikes to my life right now) and rewatched Moving Parts from a different perspective and I just want to say that Katya (and Brian) is such an introspective and insightful person while also being naturally funny, likeable, and just a person who I appreciate so much. She is one of the very few people in the spotlight who I wish I knew personally. I just can’t emphasize enough how much I appreciate this person. Also, the interviewer is really good and deserves mad props for his conversational style. I imagine it would be challenging to avoid the temptation to change subjects to get through your questions but he seemed to create a nice space for them to both be authentic and kept the conversation as organic as possible during a formal interview.
