This song is about Finnish volunteers fighting against Turks in 1877 war between Ottoman Empire and Russia, and has nothing to do with WW2.

After the suppression of Bulgarian April Uprising in 1876 nearly 100,000 were put to death, men, women, children... A year later many came to fight for those who can not protect themselves, and to help those who need help. What is known as Russo-Turkish War (1877-1878). And the Finns were among them. The Finnish Guards' Rifle Battalion, of nearly 1000. They distinguished themselves in the battle of Gorni Dubnjak, when the Finns were the ones, who finally get over the walls of the fort. Gorni Dubnjak were a fortified stronghold, ensuring supply route for besieged Turkish army of 70000 strong at Pleven. So it was vital to take it, and finish the encirclement. Thank you Finns, for participating in that war, we have not forgot those days. Warm greetings from Bulgaria.

Before stumbling onto this song's comment section in KZbin, I had no idea Finns were kept to such high regard in Bulgaria because of history. Apparently, basic education all the way to high school focuses too much on the colonization period of Sweden. And I'm sorry things are like that in Bulgaria. But don't let the international press fool you into thinking Finland is a paradise. We have corruption as well; we have just been so dutiful in our trust of bureaucrats for decades, we haven't recognized it as such. And like most of Europe, we are flooded with third world welfare immigrants and Islamic invaders. Our own government arranged a charter flight for ISIS concubines and their programmed little head-cutting hell spawn. We have been living in "Lintukoto". What our mythology refers to as the place where birds migrate, where heaven and earth connect and where small people live in peace and harmony. But what is currently mockingly referring to the idea that Finns want to continue living independently, in peace and harmony as unrealistic and naive. And there really is no reason, other than the globalist scumbags' decision to sell our country to EU and the international bankers, that we couldn't continue to be Lintukoto. The information and the respect shown in these comments has intrigued me to find out more about Bulgaria. I used to know you mainly for yogurt and the Eurovision song contest. I gotta broaden my horizon.

Kazuoh The alphabets are no similar, but Greek melody is very close, and most consonants. The vowels Greek has are like the Finnish ones, just we Finns have 3 more, and they can be short of long, which can change the meaning. Well, the y sound was in the Classical Greek, the ä is like the English words hAt or dAd ('hät, dääd'). the ö you could say as the English wOrk, stIR, hEArd ('wöörk, stöör, höörd'). It's not exactly the same, but we hear that as th Finnish ö. Which is said in the same place as e in bEt, just with rounded lips. Like German Göthe ('Gööt(t)e'), or French bleu ('blöö').

Count on me when it comes to economy. I'll support you the best way I can finns. I've actually tried to mobilize the masses to become more Finland-friendly and to buy more finnish wares. Especially since I saw the speech on YLE made by the finnish prime minister in 2015. What's good for you is good for us as well, simple logics. But also I have veterans in my family thats fought and died for Finland for many times, and by honoring their names and their deeds I will also support you for that reason. Dear regards from ystävä Ruotsia

Amen to this! I tend to buy swedish products when it comes to tools, outdoor gear etc. because I know they are top notch when it comes to quality and durability. Unfortunately the trend these days seems to favourite the cheap and disposable crap that comes from the far east and I DESPISE that trend. Hälsningar från Finland!

Well, you guys make hell of tar licorice on the other hand. Too bad that it can't be found anywhere around here in Sweden. Mies1234 Or not could be like Korea. You have north Korea (Finland, because it is north of Russia), the demilitarized zone (karelia) and southern Korea (Russia because it is more south). Or the residents of karelia could just vote themselves who they want to be with.
@apimyfriend5 жыл бұрын
Balistic Head151 , I could not care less if we don't manage to acquire that piece of land that has been raped by the Soviet Union and Russia. Vyborg's castle and old library are maintained with Finnish funds because our Eastern neighbors "cared" about annexing Karelia and Petsamo but still fail to show any compassion towards both areas' poor economic or ecological state. Vyborg used to be a multicultural city with important relations to its Southern and Western European counterparts. Nowadays if you visit that place you will witness the abdication of its older, glorious days that it once was known for. Trust me, my friend, if the decision of letting the Soviet Union possess Karelia was driven by the sole intuition of the Karelians themselves, they really made the wrong decision. I wish that my intentions would come into fruition so that the Karelians reached a higher point of sophistication, but I'm afraid I won't be able to see that during the reign of people that repudiate any offer coming from an external source of aid (thank God they're still willing to accept money to maintain Vyborg and its culture).

Respect to Finland from Ukraine! You have a great country! Such an awesome nature and interesting language (I'm a philologist, so I'm kinda into that stuff xD). BTW I've just finished reading Mannerheim's memoires... even got my grandma to read it (she is a former Soviet history teacher). Most of the things about the Winter war etc were not taught in USSR, and now she actually started respect Finland even more. Like she said: "Finns sacrificed a lot of their lives, for their freedom". Mannerheim! Suomi! Verta pakkiin!

My grand grand father fought trough both of the wars in Finland at WW2. And it’s a thing that when you go to war you don’t come back as the same person.he didn’t ever talk about the war. And when he did he said only maybe two words like once when he was asked he said:Tapoin ja kuiskasin ruumiita=I killed and buried the corpses. And he almost never had a good night sleep.😢
