Communism only fails when it fears its competitors and implements an authoritarian ideology. China, however is still communist and making 4 times America's GDP. The only reason the two nations don't go head to head is because of the tension and fear as seen in the Cold War, and that fear will cause the governments of both to collapse and become vulnerable to free-for-all revolution. They also might launch missiles due to superstition of each others plans for war and result in civil unrest, and world destruction. The combined power of nuclear missiles between US and USSR in the Cold War, was enough to destroy the whole earth 200,000 times.

First off, even as an American myself, I feel offended. Here are a few reasons why: 1: The Americans played the Soviet anthem horribly, and all the players got was a few slow claps at the end. 2: The Americans played their own anthem beautifully, and everyone burst into wild applause at the end. 3: I have heard the Red Army Choir sing the American anthem. It was one of the best versions I've ever heard, they sang it as if it were their own. 4: The fact that Americans have foreign visitors in their country. They should respect their guests. Just because the two nations weren't exactly friendly didn't mean that they had to treat each other like trash. The Soviets' country was at the point of collapse, for Pete's sake. I'm not a communist, I just feel bad for the Soviets. 10/10 would cheer for them.

As an American I feel incensed at the way they Americans there conducted themselves. They were so rude and disrespectful to the Soviet team and openly hostile. Communism is a threat to democracy like democracy is a threat to communism. The USSR anthem isn’t truly culture of the Russian people but the culture of a communist dictatorship that failed horrendously to bring what the people hoped for when they fought in their civil war. This was a symbol of victory over the USSR, the nation that was the enemy of the US. Neither countries could coexist, and it’s obvious who lost the war. not always, check your facts also, most if not all countries with the Socialist system failed with the will of their leaders, just look at Gorbachov and Yeltsin how they became america's best friends after the USSR collapsed, some common sense would show you how things were and why they happend. A country doesn't have to be a failed country because of it's system, mainly it's the people leading it. Even my country, Yugoslavia didn't fail because of the Socialist system, it mainly failed of the decaying of bad leadership who accepted money from the west (fact) to break down the country. Most fuss when our war started was on nationalism, nobody really even spoke or discussed about the two systems, and yet afterwards capitalism sneaked in quietly. The Chicago Stadium Barton Theatre Organ was one of the few real pipe organs ever installed in a sports arena, and unfortunately it's last major tune up was in 1985!! hence it sounding a little off here. I've never seen such disrespect for a country that was falling apart back at home. They completely ruined the soviets anthem and made the American anthem sound real powerful, in fact everyone kept cheering for the USA throughout it being sang.
