Kavitaji, what a voice she has. Living legend. In 90s, I remember she and Alkaji were having all the good songs. Kavitaji voice very different from others, not a typical sweet romantic voice. She did wonders in all her songs. She has amazing hold on her voice. May God bless her always.

Finally! I listen to these songs very often. These songs have a divine feel to them, especially Kavita Krishnamurthy's vocals. Every song on this album is an absolute gem. Why SLB never repeated you guys will always remain a mystrey! Hope you can share more about how you guys made every song of this film. No comments on why you guys never won the best music award for this film ... I think enough has been said/written. For me this soundtrack is special (I've said it before), because this film and the music are based in Goa (and my roots are from the state) but unlike several other Bollywood films, the music is not a caricature of Goan music. It brings the flavor with dignity. The melody and poetry are strong and of course, the vocalists have sung every song to perfection. Please do talk more about Mausam Ki Sargam and Gaate Thay Akele - both underrated yet brilliant melodies. Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam had wonderful music too, but there can never be another Khamoshi - the true musical!

Let me start with a pranam to you two legendary music directors. Ever since I was a kid, I grew up to your music and I still have the audio cassette of Khamoshi in my home among others. I cannot count the billions of times I have played the poor thing. All the magnet is gone, just the tape survives! In 1996 I was a student of class 1 and for many years this has been one of my most favourite albums in Hindi. I think even today I can croon every song from beginning to end for they are etched so well in my memory. Now, as a grown up, I am dumbfounded by the musicality and richness of your compositions. And speaking of Kavitaji, she was my favourite singer back then and even today. Her voice is the epitome of grace and empathy. I would say her voice has matured over the years and in the later recordings she sounds even more phenomenal. Indeed, those were the best of times in music. Many many thanks for the countless hours of pure bliss from the tapes and cds. God bless you all. Ps. I agree the music has changed today (so I barely play them). But can't we have a Jatin- Lalit release once in a year - songs with the same level of old world charm? Or is the market too small for it? I'm sure there are MANY like me who would cheer for you!!

Kavita Krishnamurthy is one of the most versatile legendary singers. She is the best after Asha Bhonsle when it comes to singing different genres of songs. And her combination with Jatin- Lalit is one of the best singer/ music director combination ever. The songs from khamoshi are an all time classic. Jatin - Lalit used her voice and did justice to her immense talent by making her sing all types of songs. And most of them were super duper hits!!!!

Rahman was gaining popularity and was becoming a force in Indian film music when Khamoshi came. Jatin Lalit ji were already legends back then and had their fair share of churning out amazing melodies But When I heard Bahon ke Darmiyan from Khamoshi, I was speechless. It’s still my most favourite composition by JL ji. As a complete album Fanaa is my most favourite by you. Thank you for all the memories! Currently only Ajay Atul can compose this kind of music.

Great video Jatin ji ... Really liked a few points 🙂 1. Addressing Kavita Krishnamoorthy ji as Didi was very respectful 2. She was and is indeed a very mature singer 3. Having dubbed for LP over the years had honed her voice beautifully, she became a complete singer 👍 4. Understanding what music director needs is of paramount importance. Excellent mention of her grasping power & diction 5. Vaade Iraade had one great title track by you & Poornima ji "Yeh Dil Deewana" on Mamta Kulkarni (not sure who the hero was) was simply fantastic 👏 6. Very true on ability to learn the song quickly - I had a torrid time singing Tumne Mujhe Dekha from Teesri Manzil and Ek Dilruba Hai from Bewafaa, simply couldn't get the notes right ! 😰 7. She is absolutely dignified and graceful 8.
