I remember Bappi Da, how I first met him, my association with him as a singer, giving me my first break in Laparwah. He was a truly amazing composer.
I was fortunate to co-judge with him for Singing TV show "Suron Ka Eklavya."
I will treasure the memories. Will always Miss You Dada. May your soul Rest In Peace.

Jatin ji, One of Bappi Lahiri's most legendary Bengali film song was filmed on your sister, Vijayta Pandit ji and her co-star in the super-hit Bengali movie. The name of this song was Amar Shangi; even the name of that movie was Amar Shangi. I heard the song in the 80s, but that song is still popular in Kolkata even 35 years later. Bappi da later used the same tune for a Hindi film song. The Bengali version of the song was sung by Kishore Kumar. The Hindi version was sung by Bappi da himself; the lyrics were Dil mein ho tum. But the Hindi version was not that popular as the Bengali version. The Bengali song is still played during Durga Puja in Kolkata even today.

I would like to thank Jatin Ji from the bottom of my heart for sharing such rare information about Bappi Da. Only a high class musician can pay such a rich tribute to a musical genius like Bappi Da. I have not heard a single interview of Dada where good questions were asked by the interviewers. Everyone wanted to sensationalize the interview. He was often blamed of copying tunes but can someone give such big hits merely by copying??? These are foolish allegations. Love you Bappi Da. You are truly a musical genius. 🙏🏽🌹

I watched this video just after Bappi Lahiri’s demise. Then after one year, few days back and now. Nobody has given him the true tribute the way u have done. He was way too ahead of his time. In 1980’s wen disco was at peak, many of his contemporaries like rd,lp, anu malik and kalyanji anandji tried their hands on disco/pop but nobody could come near him, not even 30 percent. They lacked beat, rhythm and melody. It was undoubtedly his and kishore’s time. Apart from disco dancer, dance dance, songs of him in sharabi, namak halal, justice chaudhry, suraksha, wanted, wardaat, mawali, tohfa, karate, love in goa, mein balwaan, commando, mein balwan, pyar ke naam qurbaan, pyar ke qabil, prem pratigya, waqt ki awaz, satya me jewti, love love love, hoshiyaar, jaani dost and many many more… Nobody cud use the pop singers like usha uthup, sharon prabhakar and alisha chinoy even s janki, vijay benedict and peenaz masani like him. He made even kishore, amit and asha pop singers. Jatin bhai why he’s not considered one of the greats in music. Why ppl don’t give him the credit in indian music which he deserves. Nobody has sung so much songs like hiim. He made mithun disco dancer, he made govinda break dancer & jeeyendra jumping jack. Why people in bollywood sooo constipated that they don’t even acknowledge their mentors/godfathers. In last i want to ask u was bappi Lahiri politicized? Was it an intentional campaign to discuss and focus only on his looks & the way he dressed and nobody discussed his work? Love u bappi lahiri. May his soul rest in peace. What great Bappi da gave to music, no one can give it now. No doubt he was Disco king and exceptional in disco songs but his sad songs are equally brilliant..like Tu Kahan Aa Gayi Zindagi from Bhavna, O Meri Behna from Pyari Behna, Malik Mere from Akhiri Ghulam, Zindagi Mahak Jaati Hai from Hatya and so many more..he deserved more awards than he might have received..he was awesome and unmatched..Salute to the genius.

Beautiful.. Jatin ji....really liked the tribute and the rare things that were not known to us. One request, please could you make one specifically focusing on his less disco type and more melody based work, in Kisi se Na Kehna, Joothi, Laalach etc songs, they were not popular like his pep ones, but they deserved to be counted as his finest work, sadly they are not known as much... may be the movies flopped, because small budget or low starcast... but his work in those movies are so beautiful.. and very less spoken about. Thanks in advance.
