great video and clear explanations ... I was convinced this was my problem but it turned out to be a bad fuel pump and carb.

I started to leave the hood open when stored in the barn. That really seems to help. Not exactly sure why but worked for me

Hi I’m experiencing the same problem. It was only firing on one cylinder. I changed the 2 coils but not the “wire”. I did the test again and both cylinders are firing. But still a loss of power when in high rpm. Help please.

Does it smooth out if you give it a little choke?

I will try that, will a bad wire that connect to the coils with clips cause issues? Because I didn’t change that. I didn’t see any signs of damage. But I’m going to try giving it a little choke and let you know. Thank you for the response🙏

Hey ,no it didn’t do anygood. I had put a new 10mm that holds down one of the coils. The bolt seems a little shorter than the original 10mm bolt but it’s tightened down securely to the head. Will a shorter 10mm bolt on the coil cause a problem?

great video. im working on a fh430 that showed the same problem initially . runs very rich under load and loses power. runs perfect at idle. both cylinders fire. carb has no vent like the 500. only adjustment is idle air/fuel on top. makes no difference how its adjusted. ive changed the coils, plugs, wires. no difference. cleaned carb, ran the valves. machine has 60hrs on the clock. no one can seem to fix it. what say you? thanks

Does it make popping noises or just overall low power? Deck isnt locked up somewhere? Sounds like fuel/air mixture issue or bad fuel? Could be a blown head gasket but normally don't see with that low of hours on this engine

@@IndRepair machine is a walk behind gravely, about 2004 model. seems to do better when cold. about an hour in starts to loose more power and more unburned fuel. seems like carb problem but float is working. back at idle, cleans up and smells normal at exhaust. almost seems like the main jet is to big? or not enough air? have not tried another carb yet. everybody says bad coils but i swapped them. rest of the machine is original. nobody has messed with it. thanks. mark

@@markgerdes3402 I would lean towards a carburetor issue with the hours on the unit. Intake gaskets that were removed should be replaced when you have it off to make sure you don't have an air leak also.

I would also say that on a similar intake I have seen the plastic mold have a leak that would get worse once hot

I would check compression first the work through the fuel system to the ignition but normally a carburetor issue with something like this. The oil doesn't smell like fuel by chance?
