Nice work mate, always happy to hear someone else working hard to keep the old girls on the road and not just forgotten in a corner somewhere. Enjoy it and ride safe 👍

Loved this video. Had mine declared SORN ever since covid hit and this Tuesday is it’s MOT :) had a cheeky back road ride to make sure everything was fine and after a fuel filter change, please do yours!! I swear it’ll make so much difference even if it’s only slightly dirty. You have two of them in each side. Any way, can’t wait to get my bike back out on the road. GPX’s are special :)

Good to hear your bike will be back on the road again mate. Where exactly are the fuel filters on the bike?

Did you check to see if the escs was working on the front forks? Your roads are just as bad as ours in England lol. Great bike and nicely bought back to life.

Thanks for your comment mate. Actually no I haven't tested to see if it's working properly but I will now lol. Yes we have some fantastic roads close to me but the road condition is a bit sketchy in parts. Cheers

Really great work mate. The old girl lives to fight another day. I picked one up yesterday, took her out today. There are a very impressive ride, I have a 99 zzr600, every bit as good if not better in many ways. How is she now?

I rode a mates zzr600 and I would say the 750 is a much more fun bike to ride. About 18 months ago I actually swapped this bike for a 34ft timber boat. If you're interested in that sort of thing I have a 2nd channel called Harper's Boat Shed that's all about rebuilding and cruising her around my local waterways

I had a white 1989 model, brand new, engines were known for a weak top end, two new camshafts and sixteen followers about four months out of warranty.

I owned a red white and blue GPX750R (ZX750-F3) from new (UK spec)... the major difference from the F1 & F2 were the F3 had improved oilways in the cylinder head to cure the oil starvation issue... the F3 also had carb de-icing fitted to the cards (where engine coolant was routed through a channel in the float bowl to heat the fuel) but it didn't really work that well until the engine was hot and the float bowl was warmed up. Not really a big issue, more of an annoyance because when you thought the engine was running at temp as soon as you rode for half a mile in at near, or below, 32C the bike would cough and splutter... pulling over for a minute to let the heat from the now warm coolant would warm up the float bowl/fuel and away you went without any issue. In total i covered 230,000 miles on my GPX750 when i was a despatch rider, at about 200,000 miles it developed a lot of tappet noise due to the rockers wearing out, trying to source a second hand F3 cylinder head was all but impossible and the cost of replacement rockers was crazy (if memory serves me right, back in the 90's it was circa £30 per rocker x 16) so i sold it for next to nothing... damn i loved that bike and to this day even though i've hung up my helmet now, i miss it.

Hi, friend. I have a 750r gpx with 15,000 km. I'm doing the review myself and I have a small problem. To remove the oil filter is it necessary to remove the exhaust manifolds? I have tried to remove the filter but it hits the union of the collectors. Thanks for your help, motorcyclist friend. Hi from Malaga, Spain.

Hi mate, yes from memory you do need to drop the exhaust header unfortunately.

Hey I was looking for a first bike and I was wondering if this would be a decent choice as newer bikes are out of my price range

In my opinion mate no I don't think the 750r would make a good first bike. They have too much power for a learner bike and don't brake or handle as well as something newer. They are also very heavy compared to something smaller and lighter. If you were to have a look at my latest video on the channel I'm doing a rebuild on a Kawasaki zxr 250. That would make a fantastic first bike, don't let the capacity put you off they are a blast to ride and handle fantastic.

Now, after a few kilometers riding the GPX, I can say in what condition the red Kawa 750 realy is. First of all,..it looks fantastic !! I cleaned it up and polished it and I could not belief the result. It is so great looking,..after 34 years..wunderbar!! No more work to do on that part. Now the technical thing. Breaks are like the suspension very well working. The electric stuff is to 100% working. It would not start very well at the beginning so I changed the fuel and what I noticed , the colour was strange. Very dark and not transparent. So a new filter, cleaning the tank , new fuel and a liquie moly cleaner for carburators also filled in the tank. The result was that it starts at first try. That was great ! I thought that's it. Anything fixed , everything is fine !! But NO !! It is NOT !! There is one problem. If you do full throttle it will not accellerate with full power. You have to reduce the thottle a little bit and find out how to speed up very quick and go beyond 5000 rpm. It worked better from ride to ride but not as good as it should be. Maybe 60 - 70 % power at all. Now I removed the carburators to clean them up and I hope after that I can ride the 34years old Kawasaki GPX 750 R with all power up to the maximum speed !!

@@personanongrataiS I think you are on the right track with a strip and clean on the carburettor. I also had a significant increase in overall performance with a new set of spark plugs as my old ones we very old. If you have the facilities to do you so should make a short video and post it up, I will be very keen to check it out if you put a link up here. Cheers

@@HarpersShed Hallo again. I want to tell you what I have done with my GPX750 so far. Like I sayed I removed the carburetors, what was not a big thing cause all rubber parts where soft and the carburetors were very clean outside. I noticed new inbussscrews everywhere. Very nice,.. I was not the first who worked here. Inside was ok, bit cleaning,.. so back in. First start,..OK. first ride,..NOT ! Same problem maybe a bit worse. So what can I do,I thought!? I remembered a guy who sayed, “rip off the filter and rip off the extra petcock and it will run a hundered percent!“ This bike has a automatic petcock and with all this stuff it cant get enough fuel!! What can I say? I did,...and it works!! It is amayzing. Yesterday I rode my first owen ,100% working, motorbike in my life and I am 52 years old. Today I feel like I am the luckiest man on the planet, believe me. I have a wonderfull wife and now I have a red hot 34years young GPX750R too. Life is good,...sometimes!!

just bought a gpx 600 r 89' any recommendations where to find tires for these old bikes?
@HarpersShed
@HarpersShed 2 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately not mate, your 600 has 16" front and rear and that makes it even harder. I had a 600r before the 750 and from memory I had a set of Perrli sport demons on that. They were an ok all round tire but didn't like being ridden hard. Hope this helps mate and hope you enjoy the 600👍
