Wow that's going back a long way on the channel mate, thanks for being here from the beginning and sticking around. The anvil is still going good and gets used on the odd occasion. I still have ideas of making a forge and trying my hand at some basic blacksmithing and blad making. Unfortunately it won't be for a little while as I already have enough projects on the go as it is. Cheers

Nick work. I'd say supercharger is only keeping up with engine cfm , will supercharger speed pump more air .😊
@HarpersShed8 күн бұрын
If I spin it faster it will indeed produce more air but you start to push the rotors past the point of there efficiency and that just creates heat. Unfortunately the only way forward if I wanted to keep with the charger would have been to get a physically large unit.

Noice mate. Have you thought about putting a j pipe on the exhaust. Really can't hear how loud it is. But my son out deleted on his VE Commodore and the drone at 100k was incredible. Never set in the back but my wife said it was unbearable and in the front we were yelling at each other to talk. (I think I'm a bit deaf). But with the J pipes, 100% better. Standing on the street, it just took that edge of the sound. Cheers Graham
@HarpersShed17 күн бұрын
I must confess I don't actually know what a j pipe is. I will have to do some research. I have since fitted a big muffler and it much better now.
@theaussienurseflipper.811317 күн бұрын
@@HarpersShed a j pipe. Is a thinner pipe in the shape of a j shape capped at one end. Welded into the exhaust going forward which is capped. I think U don't need it in a j shape. I heard the long the pipe the less drone. But U think a muffler is better. I thinking put 3" exhaust with a hot dog muffler on my 2.8l diesel GQ.

G,day Tim. It has to be fun doing vids. She,s looking good mate gonna be a BEAST. This format is better ya don,t look so shagged like a Sheep Farmer. Seeing what ya done rather than watching ya do stuff works a lot better. I like the way ya tell it like it is. Dam fine build over all. Leave the airscoop on Passenger side just to provide extra cooling air in the Engine room. Sounds like it wants to eat something.......It,s a Runner. Gonna be pretty fuel efficent over all. Nice build, couple of sugestions, VDO (& you'll probably find copies online) a pulse converter that can go in line with your tach signal wire to "tune" the orig black & white tacho to the engine. Secondly, ditch the orig alternator, fit an electric vac pump (getting more common in the performance area), then you can run a lot higher output alternator without factoring in the requirement for an engine driven pump!
@HarpersShed18 күн бұрын
I have seen some of the signal tuning boxes around and if that dash cluster did work that was the next step.

What makes the motor cooked? Can’t it be fixed? Or too expensive? Or u fixable? In learning and don’t understand
@HarpersShed18 күн бұрын
That particular engine had over heating issues due to blocked cooling passenger in the block and head. When something is overheated that bad it will soften the rings and lose compression or will pick on the cylinder walls and scratch them. It is possible to rebuild but not cost effective as it's getting old and parts are hard to come by

Sorry for the lateness but I've been saving this one. Anyway a couple of questions for you, is the snorkel now redundant, will you be making a rock guard for the fuel tank, as it appears to be in more of a vulnerable position now that it's under the seating area. Other than that great work and just those little jobs to go but take forever to do. 😅. Laters Gary 🇬🇧🇬🇧
@HarpersShed18 күн бұрын
The black snorkel is no longer going to be used and will come off. I will be making a new one for the drivers side. The tank is rather thick steel so should hold up okay for the type of driving I intend doing

@HarpersShedАй бұрын
Thanks mate i appreciate the kind words. Yeah we do have noise level restrictions here, I believe they are 90db but I haven't measured it yet. Being on the dyno is different, it's more the tire noise that gets you and the fact that it's all inside a tin shed make it really loud when doing a run.

Great build video. Was great to see the power & torque figures that actually make it to the ground. As a 6.5 owner in a patrol myself. I have always been curious as too how much torque ( in particular ), these things put to the ground. Well done 👍
@HarpersShedАй бұрын
Thanks mate, from the little I have driven it so far and the dyno graph I can say they put down shit loads of torque but it's all way down low in the rpm. To put it in comparison we started my dyno pull from 40kph in 4 gear. At 50kph I was making 400nm torque. A normal late model dual cab ute the run starts at 80kph and won't make that much torque until well over 120kph. I think most of the issues people have when doing the 6.5 swap is not doing the diff gear ratio change to keep the engine in the happy rev range. I have 3.9:1 now but feel that 3.5:1 would be the best for the torque range for the engine
