to Cager & 45eno. I just love how he is so overwhelmed and enthusiastic with the fun of riding! I also have the 2008 model. It has ABS but not traction control. I paid for mine 2nd-hand AUD $10,250 in Jan '14 and it only had 14,000kms on it. Got it through ePay. Had to fly up to Queensland from Sydney, to pick it up and ride it home. So smooth, so powerful. Love it. Kwakas been doing this right since the old 3-cylinder 500cc Mach III's and 750cc MachIV's two strokes back in the 1970's. The GTR 1400 is very heavy at 666lbs but, I LOVE MY KAWASAKI 1400 GTR. Thanks for posting. :-)

Great review. Everyone I talk to who has had or owns a GTR1400 absolutely loves it. Most say it's been the best bike they ever had. I'm in the throws of buying a new GTR1400. A few things from your clip made me stop and think. The amount of power and speed at the drop of a hat and the weight when stationary at the lights or parking. But I thought about this and I checked on previous bikes I have owned as far as weight. Most of the Harleys were around 300kg, The main thing is to fix it so you can at least get the balls of your feet on the ground while seated on the bike. The other issue of blistering speed, (that may be something someone else said but nevertheless) There is nothing stopping you from riding at the speed limit. But in saying that I would think temptation is always there. :-)

@@chrisb3939 Oh my, sorry, that you had such a dramatic change in your life.:(( Hope you can get back on a bike in the future! Thank you for sharing your experience. What is putting me off this bike, is that is really wide, the roads, even high ways are bloody narrow here in the Netherlands, and that the bike eats tyres for breakfast, lunch and for dinner too. I presume this comes down to riding style as well, but still. I prefer to buy tyres in every 2 years, and not every half a year, with the amount of commuting I am doing.;)) I wish you the best, Chris!

I've owned 3 late model BMW sport touring bikes, both R and K, and then this bike. By far, this is the most fun of any bikes I have every had. With a proper review, one would have studied the bike before reviewing it. During your review, I watched your tach and never saw it rev. Yes, the bike is a monster when it comes to power, and with an ECU being flashed, the torque is much more unbelievable.Where you feel it is with a passenger and cargo. This is something that is hard to explain to a novice on this bike. Not bad for a review for a novice. The weight - you get use to it BTW.
@45eno10 жыл бұрын
Not one to usually leave a comment on reviews but I have to say your review of the GTR14 is easily the best I have seen. I have the original 2008 version without the ABS,Traction,Heated grips but most of the features that make the bike great. Your expressions to the power is exactly how I feel on the bike. More than enough power even though heavy. I picked mine up for $7300 back in 2011 w/ only 4300miles and glad I did. Best bang for the buck sense it was improved in 2010. Great review, thanks!

I purchased a new 2014 a month ago and got a great deal. $11,400 Out the door price that included matching trunk case. It has 2 choices of ABS front/rear linked braking. Traction control that can be turned off/on. Adjustable windscreen, There is also a button on the back side of your clutch that easily scrolls through the display screen so you don't have to push the buttons. Also worthy of noting, The hard bags and trunk can all 3 be removed in just a few seconds and carried like a suitcase. Riding the bike without the trunk and hard bags gives it a whole different feel as far as agility and power. Keep up the good videos.

Horsepower is addictive, isn't it ? I used to own the 1400's predecessor, the ZG1000 Concours. It made +-100bhp, I can only imagine what an extra 50% more power and torque can do. I did use my Concours to commute, but at the time my commute was 150km each way, so it was perfect for the job: fast, comfortable, and with 450+km range. BTW, the saddlebags are standard equipment on this bike everywhere. The big question: why is it so expensive in Portugal ? here in Canada it lists for the equivalent of 12700 Euros...

I took one out for a 70 km test ride yesterday. Quite a change from a Suzuki Vstrom 1000. In comparison I found the Connie much more stable from slow speeds to high speeds. I felt the weight when turning corners at high speed but its probably more a matter of my riding. The wind with windshield down was pretty extreme and up pushes my head forward but that's at pretty high speed. Overall I loved the bike and NP commuting for me as I don't split traffic like yourself ☺ If you tried that here, cagers would murder you. Brutal drivers in Kelowna BC Canada

This is a perfect example of a touring bike, smooth and vibrationfree. Boas Cager.

People complain about the Connie being heavy. Duhh....that's one thing that makes a good touring bike. My Suzuki Burgman 650 scooter weighs 612lbs and I can cruise easily at 90mph passing big rigs an I am stable and not blown out of my lane. The weight makes that possible. I have a 99 Ducati 996 that is light and nimble and very fun carving mountain roads but I don't want to ride it more than 50 miles and certainly don't want to ride it next to big rigs. The Kawi GTR1400 (Concours) is purposely designed to be heavy to be a very good GT cruiser. Stop with the, "oh my god it's heavy!" It's supposed to be heavy! Its a sport touring bike, not a sport bike!!!
