These 300s are pretty decent but I'm waiting for one of the Japanese companies to come out with a good modern 450cc dual sport with long maintenance intervals. That would be fantastic.

Suzuki just needs to add efi, 6th gear and the +4 bore to the drz400. They can make significantly more power than current form, while keeping longer service intervals.

Awesome video man I like the motovlog style. I'm coming from a GSXR 750 and I agree totally about the power of the KLX 300 but mine only has about 350 miles on it so far. I have about a 20 minute commute to work at speeds around 55 to 65 and it's totally fine for that. It just doesnt have tons of instant torque on tap like the Ninja 650's parallel twin.

"What the hell is this? Does this go somewhere?" and that right there is why I love dual sport bikes, lol. Just got mine yesterday. It already has the delkovic exhaust and snorkel, but no EJK. I'm probably gonna get it since I only need that last performance mod. I also heard that you can put an IMS KLX250 3.2 gal tank on the 300. With boosted power and fuel range, the bike is downright amazing in my book.

Depends on what you want, but I want a 50,50 bike and mine has adequate trail power but wanted tobe more comfortable on the hyway, so I did the snorkle and exhaust mods and then geared up just a little. 15t in frt. Has worked well for what I do.still has good trail power. More comfortable on hyway as long as the wind isn't blowing me around.

I want to add that I have not put any kind of "tuner" on mine . I haven't seen any need for it. The Delkevic slip on was the most expensive part . The snorkle wasn't much and plugging the AIR system cost nothing.

I think off-road and on-highway the limiting factor is the tires. Above 60 on dual sport tires makes me a little nervous as far as gripping the road in turns. Probably unfounded, but if there's a weak link, it's likely the tires and not the bike (in my opinion). Thank you for the great video!

I think it's perfect for someone like me that's getting back into riding.. haven't been on a bike since my teens! A 1986 YZ 80! That scared the shit outta me as a kid but was fun. So something like this or the 300L. Should be fine starting back out and probably will use it to do the msf course and all that fun stuff. It's going to be a blast! Can't wait to get some practice.

I saw a dyno test not long ago ,testing different mods. According to that the bump in power at 7,000 rpm is because that's when the secondary throttle plate opens. They eliminated it and it had more power at lower rpm. I may do that.

The hyper flashing on the signals is in fact a safety feature, it’s suppose to indicate that a bulb is out (with the incandescent bulb) but most notably is an excuse for highway patrol to pull you over for a fix-it-ticket when they see hyper flashing.

Does the KLX300 have throttle by wire or cables? The ability to go from street to trails is why I like dual sport motorcycles. It was also practical to be able to leave the road, and go into the grass on the side of the road when there was a car accident blocking the road. Hopping over curbs to get in or out of parking lots blocked by traffic is another benefit of owning a dual sport machine.

Yeah that 25 horsepower is perfect for off road especially if you’re not a pro. Plenty of power to have fun and still tractors over a lot of stuff even though it’s a low compression motor. And the service intervals are so far apart it’s a really fun trouble free bike. I’ve cruised at 70+ for an hour before and didn’t find it too bad.

I like this bike cause most reviews have nothing but praise for the bike, especially the suspension. I am also considering the 650 KLX but I'm worried about the weight and the effort to pick it after i drop it, but it has so many bells and whistles I have a hard time just forgetting about it. I have ridden cruiser bikes for many years especially my Kawi Nomad that I logged 60K on it with not problem and the cruise control was sweet. I want a duel sport for some reason and I want to make a decision. So far I have considered this bike, the 300 Rally by Honda, the 250 sx by Yamaha and the Tenere 700. Too many to decides from. Please help. Thanks.

It will do 75 for awhile without too much issue. I’ve done it for 25-30 minutes at a time. You won’t have much passing power but cruising is ok. It’s a sturdy little motor and can take abuse.

@atlklx5168

I think it’s fine in wet pavement. The tusk dsport gets by in muddy terrain but it’s a more mild off road tire so it struggles if it’s really deep mud. In general I like to ride more hard packed stuff if I can.
