How goes it,,My name is Sam, Bought me basket case 01 Vulcan 1500 Classic,,,,Starts and runs,,,put it in 1st and no go,,,Bled clutch good clean,,neutral switch good,,,any idea what should do next,,,Bike was sitting long time,,so I'm going to remove engine, so can clean and repaint,,but would like to fix this problem b4 I get to invested in cleaning and repainting a broken bike,,Thank u very much...

Hey David, that was good instructional video, I have successfully done a swap on a 800 vulcan , and now I a 1500 I'm working on and I have started my swap on the engine, I'm glad I watched this video I did pick up some tips, looks like I'm going to have swap that little geared shaft that has the pin and spring for the drive shift, this one had a lot of play, wish me luck on that, thanks and have a blessed day, :)

Question if you can help me. 99 Kawasaki Vulcan nomad. Torque spec rocker case cap. 4 nuts 17 mm. 4 nuts 8 mm. 2 screws 8 mm. Don't know what the torque and cannot find.

I’m replacing the owner clutch slave, replacing the seal. Problem is that the shaft won’t come out, how do I get it out, next question is why won’t it come out, thx.

Think there is a snap ring on master cylinder holding it together,,,, could altso be corrosion,,, surley someone has a video on that,,, doesnt have to be your bike,, a lot of them are about the same,, Kaw,, Hond, Yamaha,, Suz Exc. ,,,

Hey David, I own a Kawasaki Vulcan 1500 nomad I'm having a big troubles, I had to change the oil pump and some arm-rocket but didn't start, now I changed also the whole cable's, cdi, and some sensors but don't start.

my oil filter gasket keeps blowing up, already made it tight with the wrench, already did it by hand changed it 5 times already maybe is a blow by? but is only the filter

Make sure the old rubber gasket is removes, sometimes they stick to engine ,, they are just like car oil filters and if installed properly shouldn't leak,,, my bike was fitted with adapter after a recall ( Cartridge style filter like on Volkswagen cars ) I removed it and went back to stock filter style

@@pepelepew2142 I had this recall on my bike but after several years of having trouble finding replacement filter elements I removed the recall filter and went back to original style ,,, Good info PEPE LE PEW, very few people know about this recall

great video! tomorrow I will be replacing my rear rocker gasket. Mechanic said that is where I am leaking oil and cam plug weeping? not sure what that means? He wanted $800+ to do the job, I do not have that kind of money so I am going to do my own wrenching. I have my Clymer manual. This is my first time dropping a motorcycle motor. Any tips or tricks aside from what is in your videos? Thanks. Keep the videos coming!

Hello Dave my 2001 nomad fi has a oil leak from the cam plugs. I tried putting black rtv on it and it helped but did not stop the leak. Aside from removing the engine is there something else I can do to fix the leak please help.

I guess you could try working some spray contact cleaner around plugs, maybe with a small pick, get in as deep as you can and get oil film out, Carful not to damage aluminum to degrease really well then try the RTV again, work it around the plugs as best as you can (( RTV will not stick to oil at all )) I never tied it,, good luck

I just recently bought a 1500 Vulcan but it was completely disassembled. I'm having a little trouble figuring out where all my hoses go, I have three hoses coming from the fuel tank and I can't find anything on where they go.

Hose at rear by seat hangs behind engine near oil filter, ( tank vent or overflow ) next hose is vent for fuel gauge in case it leaks, same place behind engine, one fuel supply to engine and if its a later fuel injected model it will have a return fuel line back to the tank

I have a shift change mech that has probably the return spring . I have been a tech for 40yrs plus. I haven't done any work on the 1500 Vulcan classic. how long would you say it took you to take out and put in the motor?

I think a couple hrs each way, I think if someone did it a couple of times faster. Seams as you take the motor out there is always something you forget so take your time.

then they are similar in work time to the Honda shadows and all other engine subframe motorcycles. I like to know what I have on my plate.thanks

If its just the shift spring mech don't pull the entire engine, Mechanism is under the bevel gear housing, to remove this housing remove frame section by rear brake pedal, Now remove engine mounts so you can nudge engine over a little to access bevel gear housing bolts, disconnect drive shaft, Remove bevel gear assembly and you will have access to the end of shift drum spring mechanism. This method saves a lot of time because you can leave most of the wiring and hoses in place.

I looked at that also. I wasn't sure about the hoses and such. his val ve covers where the d plug is are leaking anyway so I will discuss with him. yeah the shift shaft is lifeless ,floppy.

Hi David I own a 01 vulcan 1500 classic and its got electrical issues and 20000 miles engine is strong and I have a 96 classic 1500 with the notorious 2nd gear grind it dosent slip out of gear but it's annoying. Can I swap the 01 engine into the 96? Bikes look identical engines look identical both are carburated only thing to note is the 96 is a California bike so it has the damn emissions set up on it and the 01 dosent. And as I'm sure you already know 96 is a 4 speed and 01 is a 5 speed just hoping I have a parts bike that actually has parts I can use appreciate any info thanks

First off you can remove the emissions stuff, they sell block off plates for blocking where the smog hoses come off the head, ( I have them on mine ) Will let you remove smog hoses, and smog valve thing on top of the engine. There is a vacuum hose going to smog valve that will need to be plugged, As far as the engine swap I think there mounted the same, No worries about going from a 5 speed to a 4 speed, they just split up the same gear ratio 4 or 5 ways, should be very close in the last gear, just 5 gears gets you there faster. @@mobilmontana hey brother sorry for the late update but I swapped the engines and literally all that I had to do was swap out the coolant inlets and outlets from one engine to the other it took me 6 hours and my brother in law to help with the heavier lifting but it was so much easier than I thought so to refresh our memories I put the engine from a mi 01 1500 into a 98 California 1500 with California emissions bike and ran one of the two stators that are in the 01 in the 98 bike and it is an animal
