Hey all! I hope you enjoyed this video. This is the first hybrid I've ever driven, and I can't say I plan to make it my last. This is just another step in the industry and we will see these motorcycles improve as more strict emissions regulations continue to plague internal combustion engines. The 2-wheeled enthusiast's desire to go faster will hopefully prevail, and hybrid bikes can be a realistic option sometime in the near future. I hope I made a strong case for this bike so all viewers have a better idea of what it's capable of and who it is for. Thailand bike. Good range for the countryside, but the mostly city driving at low speeds, would make it practical. Full electric can be problematic, as some countries are still way behind on charging networks. With the heavy traffic, it makes the automatic into a beefy scooter, that can still to 100 plus on a highway. If they could take of about 100 lbs off, increase mpg to about 100 mpg, with a 350 mpg range, and increase the ev range to say 50 miles, it would be perfect. It needs a carbon fiber, aluminium parts diet.

A lot of the top hypercars are hybrid. I could see these doing some serious work down the road. Plus, this is also automatic. So it could hit that market too.

I agree with this sentiment! We have to start somewhere if we are going to advance the hybrid technology, so for this being the first real crack at it, I think Kawasaki did a fair job with the engineering of it. The only issue I see with this bike is that the EPA rated MPGs ties with a 250-300cc motorcycle. Making a Hybrid 250-300 would have too great of a weight penalty. My Honda 150cc scooter averages 115-116mpgs on my work commute. 50/50 highway back roads. I like the idea though. Props to Kawasaki for trying new things.

Hey Omni Man, Kawasaki have really gone out on a limb here with the Hybrid bike! Kudos to them. It will definitely appeal to some greenies but not all. And that’s fair enough. Does the engine recharge the battery when operating in ICE mode? It’s not a plug in Hybrid, right? I can’t see you on this for some reason 😂😂😉 I think Kawasaki has created this to test the ocean… the deep dark ocean. Would be interesting to see sales of these Hybrid versions. Hey dude! Kawasaki was the first to make a production supercharged motorcycle and they're the first to take the leap into hybrid territory - I guess someone had to do it eventually, so for that, I commend them. You are correct about the ICE engine charging the battery! It begins charging when operating over 3,000 RPM. You can plug the battery in, but the charger is sold separate and there is some disassembly required to get the leads connected to the battery. Thanks for being a part of getting me to 10K, Steve. I agree! You're paying more than a Z900 costs for similar trim spec, less power, and heavier weight. When you go down the path of engineering a completely new motorcycle though, there will be a phase of price discovery, and from what I've seen, we've discovered this pricing is not what consumers are accustomed to paying. Some may go for it initially, but I'd wager it's a small percentage. Thanks for watching and ride safe.

I don't really get it. Looked at the emissons specs of this compared to other bikes from the same brand with same sized Engine and the emissions are basically identical and this is probably because it doesn't have a charging connector. Why make a bike that could have like significantly lower emissions but skip the most important part.

No mention of charging and what happens if the battery is flat, looking at the hubs it doesn't look like it re-charges itself.

The battery recharges from the ICE engine above 3,000RPM. That's my bad for not mentioning it in the video, but if it's any consolation, charging the battery with the plug-in charger is a pain-in-the-ass and requires removing a connecter along with 5 bolts underneath the seat.

Nobody wants a hybrid naked bike. At best a hybrid touring or cruiser. I guarantee it makes less power and is slower and is heavier than my Street Triple 765 RS.

I think it would have made more sense as a Versys variant. It's already the most boring commuter motorcycle, making it the first Prius of motorcycles would just be another badge for it.

This is true for all bikes. No motorcyclist is too concern with gas mileage, but most are concern with weight and cost of the bike. A pure electric bike that's freeway legal would be more interesting. But thank you Kawasaki for trying and good luck

Completely pointless. A bike doesn't have the high mileage and long lifespan of car engines. The added co2 caused in production of two drive systems and battery would probably not break even compared to a normal bike.
