Hey all! I hope you enjoyed this video. This is the second Suzuki motorcycle featured on my channel, and once again, they did not disappoint. In the exploding market of these new-age middle-weight sport bikes, the GSX-8R gets my pick for being the best in the segment when it comes to standard features and delivering value at a price that makes sense when compared to the competition. While there are a few points Suzuki could make improvements, I am really happy with the overall outcome of this machine. I had a great time making the video, and would be happy to throw a leg back over one of these bikes in the future! What do you think? Let me know in the comments below.
Thank you for watching. Ride safe.

very informative review, between the 8R and the new ninja ZX4RR what would you choose? im looking for a second bike to alternate with my naked bike for commute and weekend drive
@Omni_Moto
@Omni_Moto 2 ай бұрын
I would pick the 8R. It's got the displacement to provide exceptional torque output in the low-mid range RPM, which is where you'll be living most of the time when you're commuting and weekend riding. The 4R is a very fun machine for the same purpose, but performance leaves a little left to be desired on that machine. A good compromise is the new Honda CBR650R - I just posted my review on that bike today! Check it out. Thanks for watching! Ride safe. 😎

definitely go with 8R if not looking for a budget option
@Omni_Moto
@Omni_Moto 4 ай бұрын
If the 650 was on your radar, then you should 100% be considering one of these instead IMO. This machine has tons of tech and rider aides to help you along the way with the learning curve. It is a bit heavier and more powerful though, so be mindful of its added capability and weight because the risk increases when those variables increase. This is hands down a better bike for the money, but the Ninja 650 has very few (if any) flaws other than being a little boring and long in the tooth for this class. If you come to the dealership mentioned in the video, we will actually sell you an 8R for cheaper than a Ninja 650 if price is something you're considering. My email is in the description if you'd like to inquire further. :)

Is the engine good enough to keep a seasoned rider happy for a long time and not wish they went with something bigger.
@Omni_Moto
@Omni_Moto 6 ай бұрын
A seasoned rider will enjoy this motorcycle. I think you’d be very happy with the 8R and its awesome capability, but keep in mind it is not a horsepower biased machine. It has excellent low & mid-range torque, but the engine pull beyond 110MPH does not deliver the same thrill as a smaller 600CC inline 4 cylinder. If you are chasing thrills and speed, I'd recommend the 600 or stepping up to the GSX-R750. Thank you for watching and ride safe!

@@Omni_Moto that’s why I was really considering this bike. I had an R6 and it was a top end screamer which made it a terrible commuter bike which I did 16k miles before getting rid of it. I’m not sure if I can justify the sport bike look when a z900 or mt-09 is around the same price. It the engine and plastics worth it😁
@Omni_Moto
@Omni_Moto 6 ай бұрын
@@pc9429 If the MT-09 is on your radar at all, it gets my vote over the 8R. The 09 is wicked capable and loaded with more tech than the 8R. Lighter and more powerful too with the addition of cruise control in the mix. Z900 is overweight and down on tech when compared to the 09. 8R is a friendly commuter with some good sport capability, but the new gen (2024) MT-09 is just that good. Like I mentioned in the video, it deserves bike of the year IMHO and it’s not particularly close. Hope this helps!

Yeah they didn't have fully adjustable suspension. It's a price point thing. Full Adj suspension is wildly expensive. Ever priced a set of high end Showa? Ohlins? KYB? Even some cartridges cost 1200 banana peels. A 3-way shock is minimum of 900 banana peels. As a track bike? It's better than any full fairing 650 class bike has ever been for getting into that sort of thing. You'll learn much faster on a twin with meaty mid-range than you'll ever learn on a high strung 2-stroke-like power four banger. Insurance? Tire wear? No brainer. Fuel economy? around 50 mpg if you're neither flogging it or taking forever to reach highway speeds. It's priced right. It's a Suzuki, the transmission is beautiful, the engine reliable, and it'll be around 2 decades minimum. It's also found in the V-Strom 800 bikes and getting a lot of praise over there for the engine tractability off-road and touring ability on-road. Also the aftermarket responded very quickly and there's a load of stuff available. This thing picks up 11-12 HP and 8-9 ft-lb torque fully un-corked.

@exothermal.sprocket
@exothermal.sprocket 3 ай бұрын
Honestly no. While you might stick it in C-mode and limit the power it's going to make, consider things beyond the engine. A new rider will dump it. That's expensive. A new rider will pay for insurance, and any full-fairing bike will run higher insurance. Also considering you're a new rider, most likely (unless you correct me) you're a teenager or young 20's something and insurance will naturally be expensive. Plastics are costly, insurance takes that into account. I recommend starting on a 300-400cc class bike, preferably a naked style. Get your handling and controls chops learned on that. You won't cry if you tip it over a time or two, you won't lose a ton of money. Get comfortable with that and then trade out later. Big engines (776cc is a big engine, no matter what the jaded horsepower freaks want to tell you) are unforgiving when you make mistakes. Learn on a forgiving engine that has enough power to keep you safe around traffic. 300-400cc singles and twins are great for that.

Throttle jerkiness? Pfffffffffft. Try a Gen1 or Gen2 Yamaha MT-09 in A-mode if you want throttle jerkiness. But honestly, a twin cylinder bike is going to have a lot of grunt right off idle, they are slightly less forgiving than a 3 or 4 cylinder that way. Just the nature of the beast. It's what also makes them very entertaining around urban and suburban zones. Rip out of the hole hard and fast.
