I just picked up a brand new 2023 z1000 for $17.5k on road... That's a LOT of bike for the $$$, and this machine is an absolute weapon! It's one thing to read 111Nm at 7000rpm on a spec sheet, but it's another to have all that beautifully flat, usable torque curve at hand. No electronic rider aids other than ABS and that's exactly how I want it because if it did have rider aids I would set her up exactly as she is now and just leave it there. this thing really is fully sorted from factory as you would expect from its pedigree.... Only thing to note here is that this is NOT a bike for the inexperienced, there's a lot of power on tap without hesitation - more than enough to get into a lot of trouble. There's a very specific technique to riding these supernakeds and you really have to come in already understanding that.

I worked my way through the Z range starting from the Z800 then Z900 and i have to say my favourite is the Z1000, they are all different machines with different characters, but the 1000 dominates the range.

Couldn't agree with you more on the KZbin intro 💯! I hate that the 2021 zx10r finally came out with a TFT display that rivals all the comp but the Z1000 still has the same dash as my 2015 zx10r. Don't sweat the riding ability stuff, most people have never done a lap on a closed circuit and just talk a bunch of crap, but you know that. Looks like a Beautiful day out and the sound of the insects isn't bad at all. The seat looks awesome! I agree with you on the front. I'm not super big into the street fighter, open fairing look but if I was I think the Z1000 would be at the top of my list! Nice review, lots of detail. Well done!

I recently sold my 2012 SE ABS Z1000. I absolutely loved that bike and honestly the best bike i've ridden and i've ridden a few. I can't wait to get a new one and they're absolute beasts! Thanks for the great review and happy riding.

I have a 2008 Z1000 (only owner, bought new, Engine has never been opened and I have finished a service book... I think I'm the first to do that on a Z :P) and I ride everyday, come rain or shine, and I'm STRONGLY considering upgrading to the newer model. I love the fact that they have gone back to the dual exhausts (sort of one of the iconic styling on the Z1000) BUT, I HATE the stalk indicators on the front... I love the integrated/flush mounted indicators on the fairings on the old model. The were bigger... FAR more visible and just made the bike look that much more meaner and awesome. The Z1000 was also one of the first bikes to do this and I really loved that design choice I REALLY wish Kawasaki would bring that back into the Z1000 series.

I think these bikes (I have one) are all a rider needs. Plus the 2 pipes, looks are stand out and awesome seated position. I never ride without being questioned “What is that”👀. Did London to Paris on it a few times and whilst it’s windy, the bike performs so well and once in Paris or in any city it’s at home.

Hi Rob 🥰👋👋. This was awesome to see and hear what you thought of it!! I agree!! The Z900 is honestly the first bike since Peri that I’ve looked sideways at!! These Z1000’s make me look too .... don’t tell Peri 🤫😂. One of the reasons I adore Peri is the seating position too! Just being that little bit more upright makes all the difference! My wrists and neck used to ache by the end of a long ride on my Eric (SV650) but it just doesn’t happen on Peri! You described the front end on this one perfectly 👌. The standard exhausts are 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮 and I couldn’t wait to get rid of Peri’s!! This truly was an awesome review Rob and no, the cicadas didn’t drown you out 😂😂😂. Thanks for your thoughts Rob!! 🥰👋👋👋👋

I prefer the way the Ninja 1000 is tuned for driveability....a little more predictable, more in keeping with my riding style and preferences, and more comfort for longer distances That being said, it is only a bit pricier than the Z1000 so gives great value. I love the look of the exhaust, they've changed it as of 2020 on the Ninja 1000, my only real disappointment (though it's easier to do chain maintenance now).

Wish they would bring the newer models to the states .. in the USA the 2016 Z1000 is the last model year they have available .. I have a 2015 .. by far one of the best bikes I've ever owned

Rob, I’ve been on the Duke 890r and super Duke for some time now and always feel when I ride them that the bike just wants you to go quick, as you sit in attack mode, meaning not giving one the sense of a chill ride when you want it. So for me Dukes are not good as a sports tourer or long distance bike. Is the Z1000 more versitile when it comes to this? Im still wanting the handling in the twistiest but also the option to chill ride. Cheers Rob

G'day mate yes I feel the Kawasaki is a very versatile bike. The Z1000 is certainly more aggressive than the Z900 range. I loved the Ninja 1000 if a fairing bike is on your radar

Its because its too simple. Bike height is changing while you turning it which is not good for ie sport setup

Ridden a 2014/15 model. Cool bike. A bit freaky as there is virtually no bike in front of you. I felt quite exposed. I am tall though.
