In European Union there's this A1 class of motorcycles, 125cc and maximum 11 kW (roughly 15 hp), for which (unlike cars or bigger motorcycles) one can get the licence in the age of 16. People usually ride them two years before upgrading to a bigger bike (or more commonly, buying a car, or moving to a city to study and switching the bus and the bicycle). Adult beginners almost always start with something bigger (see class "A2" if interested). And while this model was not sold in Europe when this video was made, it is now, and I think it's entirely possible Kawasaki thought that market from the day one. I mean a great chunk of your target audience is literal teenagers, this might explain the aggressive looks on a cute little bike...
@bilbyy
@bilbyy 6 жыл бұрын

I started on the grom at my riding course. It was absolute HELL to use the clutch. I stalled it more often than not. Within an hour I switched over to a beat up, heavy, clunky, old Honda Rebel 250, and ended up doing my MSA on the rebel as well. Although, I will say, once the grom got moving, it was fun since it was so small!

Nice review. I bought a used 2018 Honda Grom because there were more of them on Craigslist than the Z125. I definitely would have considered the Z125. I like the Grom but it is slow. I can’t hit 60 mph without a strong tailwind and I only weigh 160 lbs. people ask why I have four bikes, because I don’t know where I would park bikes 5, 6, and 7.

I also think Honda have a great history of making small bikes in HUGE numbers since the 60s or so, and to me and most people Kawasaki just doesn't have the same reputation. If I'm thinking small bike, I'm probably going to go with the original, if for no reason other than a healthy sprinkling of tradition and some heritage. It'd be cool to be part of the worldwide club of millions and millions of people rolling on little Hondas.

@@bavarianbanshee He never actually rode a Grom though to give his thoughts on the feel of it. He only compared the specs. I think if he rode the Grom itself, he would have more to say about the differences, minor or not, since he's clearly an experienced rider, and I would find that a pretty nice watch rather than simply listing the specs that the Kawasaki beat it out on without truly comparing the two back to back.

I unfortunately had to leave Montreal a couple years ago to live in Toronto, I had no choice cause I was too young to live by myself... This video reminds me of those great years I lived there. I'll go back no question of I ever get a chance

I think the Z125 looks much better. On that basis alone, and seeing as the two are at least comparable in most respects, I would pick the Kawasaki. Wanted a Grom for a long time before I heard about the Z125 though. But I already have two bikes, so I can't see there being room for one of these for a while.

I'm not happy at the way you delivered the first package. I mean come on, you guys did not have to throw away food like that or at least if it was a miss don't include it in the edited review :/ Other than that, nice review guys, cheers. (But really, don't throw food, it adds absolutely nothing to the video :/)

I feel you and I get the narrative way of handling that review, which was a smart angle but there was no point at throwing food away at all. If you cracked a smile when seeing that food on the ground then well, I don't know what to say. I rather liked the cut when he's dropping her partner and delivering in her hand or the part where he threw the package in a tree (I think they were lucky on that shot not spilling what was in it) but no, you don't throw food. I don't know what the situation is about homeless people is in Montreal but that's, in my opinion, a lack of respect about these guys. As I said, the video is great otherwise. I did not put a thumbs down or hated it, was just feeling the need to point that shot and its questionable usefulness. Cheers mate (Hope you had no problem reading me, english is not my main language.)

+ Yaniss illoul So, how do you know that the food wasn't already garbage from St Hubert's or wherever? The chicken looks like it's been half eaten when it lands at 1:58.

I rode both grom and z125 while bike shopping; as in waiting to sign papers for a 2017 Honda Rebel. The grom edged out for me (6'+). I kept hitting my knees on handlebars on the kawi. But I do like the styling of the kawi. If the bars were a bit taller.....
