The engine and chassis is very capable. Held back in OEM form, but some aftermarket help is all it takes. Forks can always use new cartridges. Rear shock is almost always very limited from factory, most of the time the only fix is a complete swap. Brake pads is the least expensive way to improve braking power/feel. Tires would be the next obvious plan, getting something that is more "V" shaped profile offering greater contact traction while leaned over (DOT rated track tires). People don't realize that high level traction and high corner speeds on a track means the suspension is going to compress a LOT, which reduces ground clearance and limits corner capability (and track lap times). This is why bikes set up for racing are usually stiff, to deal with the compressive forces in the corner.

Do you mind sharing what rearsets you got? I took my z900 to the track for the 1st time last weekend and had that footpeg scraping the ground a couple times. I got scared and ride very conservatively after. My buddy's s1000rr's footpeg is about 5 inches taller than where my footpeg is so I figured I should probably get a sporty rearsets (besides fixing my body position...)

I haven’t got any yet bro, one thing I’ve learned with the Z is that on the track to get that lean angle you have to get off the bike more. More than you would on a super sport. It’ll allow the suspension to rise up and you won’t scrape if you’re doing it right. Also take off your feelers below the pegs. Gives you more room.

Dude, I am getting a Z900 thus weekend, and you were instrumental on persuading me to get one. I also see you were riding in the Colony here in this video. I live north or Mckinney. PM me if you can and maybe we can ride sometime. Thanks
