I owned a ZX-9R E1-Foxeye headlight version. The ZX was deemed the bridesmaid of the 1000cc super-sports at the time, but in real world riding it was by far the most comfortable of the lot. The only thing I disliked about it was the fact it had carbs and as such didn't like bitterly cold weather as it suffered carb-icing.

Still rates as the best road bike I ever owned. I did 100,000klms on mine. Sold it and years later bumped into the guy who bought it. It had 170,000klms on it then and he had no problems with it. I've got a friend with a 2016 zx10r that has over 250,000klms on it and has never been rebuilt. Still perfect compression.

Love my ZX9R E1 and my XSR900, but I still prefer riding the Kawasaki. Great video and just shows that older bikes can be more rewarding to ride.

I have a ZX9R, and it's not going anywhere. I'm keeping mine for life. Great bike. Peace.

My older riding friend back in the 2000s switched to the z900 off sportbikes. It was popular for that. I was still sort bike only at that point. I started the decade on a 01 zx9r and finished it with a new gsxr1000 in 08.

I had a B3 superb bike intake noise power stable at high speed best of the bunch for build quality, swapped it in for Mille-R.👍

I think you're being unkind to the ol' girl - she'll still be kickin' ass way past 50k on the clock.

Really enjoy my budget zx9r great value for money only paid £1350 for a 98 model with high miles, my only issue as someone whose not mechanically capable I'm a bit reluctant to do longer journeys and wary of having a carburetted bike, so I would have to go with the z900 for peace of mind. Cheers GR

only remaining 900? What about the MT09 and the Tracer 900?

That engine is 849cc with it being updated in 2023 to 890cc

I own a ZX-9R C. I'm biking since the late 80ies and learned it without all these modern gadgets. I'm driving all-year. I have respect and know, what I'm doing. Older bikes are just better and cheap as sh*t.

Yamaha XSR 900 as well

You can tune the z900 to 145hp
