I have a Gen 2 1400 I bought new in 2012 and done all the servicing myself (except the first one at 600m) including the valve service. Not sure how similar it is to a Gen 1 as I've never worked on the earlier model. I always warm panel locating lugs with a hairdryer which makes them more flexible and can prevent expensive breakages, especially in cold weather. For brake bleeding I've found a large 2 1/2" bore plastic syringe is ideal for pulling new fluid through from the caliper. I had the plugs out at 23k and they were still in spec and looked virtually like new but changed them anyway, a bit of a pain unless you have hands like a baby😂.Getting to the top end for the valve check & re-shim was the hard bit, removing the throttle bodies etc, thereafter it's just the usual cams out/under bucket shim routine. I fitted some short extension pipes onto the well hidden vacuum take offs on the throttle bodies so they're now easily accessible for hooking up of vacuum balance gauges. I was quoted over £600 for the valve service a few years back! Just a tad under 40k on the clock now. Air & oil filters easy to change. I can change the oil & filter without removing a single panel😀👍. Great bikes these👍👍.

HA. The exact same fairings I had on my 06 zx14. looked great. But after 2 years, have found the tail panel has started to turn pink as it get more sun than the rest whilst stored. And they are cheap. I also have those same panel clips from ebay. Good to have handy. Good iridium plugs should be fine for up to 100,000km in a car so I'd be happy with 50-70,000km in a bike, especially with how hard they are to do on the 14. I havnt done my plugs yet. Have owned her for ~4 years and done maybe 20-30,00km on her(now sitting at around 145,000km). I'll do them soon though.

Did you check the dreaded Well nuts mate. They are renowned for coming apart and dropping into the air box and have been known to enter the engine. When I checked mine (on a bike that had only done 700km they were both broken.

@marksavage2 жыл бұрын
That was my first thoughts, hpi clear X police sting bike ! But see old panels just a small crack on front panel ,no other damage He rub it down and made a mess of it so new panel No signs of any damage anywhere bud so all in a good bike

*****PLEASE HELP**** i did a coolant flush/fill and now my bike is running hot. I keep hearing i need to "purp" it and i have done it every way i've seen advised and it's still running hot. The shop told me there is a bleeder valve to release air somewhere near the thermostat, I've looked everywhere and i can't find it. Please help me get this bike on the road again.
