I remember the 1971 Kawasaki line, they looked fantastic with the " Laser Blend" paint. Still in my opinion one of the most beautiful bikes ever is the 71 H1. But they are / were all gorgeous wonderful machines in respect of the times.

I had one, would eat rear sprocket like mad due to burnouts. Bored, ramped pistons, K & N air filters. Would wind 12,000 at will. Got totaled when little old lady pulled out in front of me at night. Sure miss that bike!!!

Wow! That's an amazing collection! My first bike was a KH250 , then i moved up to a 1977 KH400. My current ride is a 1983 KZ750 L3. I recently became the proud owner of a barn find 1971 H1 that the original owner hadn"t driven since the 70's. He said he wiped it out coming around a corner and when it hit the power band, wheelied unexpectedly, and he ended up in the ditch. His wife took away the keys when she found out and he never drove it again. It needs a lot of tlc as the seat is eaten away by mice, the front hub is seized, but surprisingly the engine stills kicks over after sitting all those years. Cables are all ceized. I would like to restore it to roadworthy condition, but where do I start?

What is the performance history of these triples ? Was the original Mach3 the most radically tuned ? Were the later 750s purposely down tuned to make it more civilized on the street. ? Was there any difference in the port timing between the 750s ? Any difference in the carbs on these bikes ? Was The CDI ok for the ignition? What was better ? any truth to the rumor that the original stock 500 pipes without the baffles outperformed any Denco opgrades ? In 1968 I was blown away when I witnessed a “ Mach III 500 “ spank a Hemi Cuda on a 1/4 mile street drag . What year did the disk brakes appear ? Would an older one with that upgrade be considered stock ?

That’s a lot of questions. The porting was different across the years with the 74 h2 jugs the ultimate stock set up. Carbs did not change. No they were never down tuned. CDI was bullet proof. Expansion chambers of any kind improved performance quite a bit due to cylinder scavenging. Denco was great for all types of performance mods. Can’t speak to the 500s though. My 750 would straighten your arms out with a touch of throttle. Wheelie in 3 gears with just throttle too. Had denco chambers added and stage three porting. Was highly unstable over 100 mph especially on bumpy corners.

The H1A is my all time favourite bike. Is the colour right though? That blue doesn't look metallic.
