The homemade squeeze converter looks like a great hack. I have a mini converter that I (try to) use in an AL Sport, but it's so small that ink gets stuck in the back. If you haven't had any trouble, I'm going to assume that the larger diameter and ink capacity allows the ink to flow freely. Thanks for the idea. 😀

You’re welcome! It’s been something like 7 months and I’ve had no problems with the squeeze converter. I have a demo of how I made it in my review of the Kaweco Brass.

Don't know if they're available anywhere else, but jetpens sells a refillable cartridge kit as well as empty cartridges for it, so you could fill a pen too small for a converter with any fountain pen ink.

You can also get little brass stoppers from Greatfountainitaly.com which will allow you to seal those cartridges for travel. They work very well!

great and informative video! What is the piano piece at the beginning?

Thank you! This is one of the Beethoven piano sonatas, but I can't remember which one.

Excellent review, thanks. I do wish you would include some reverse writing, which so often provides a really thin line.

Thanks! This pen doesn't work in reverse writing. The EF nib is already so fine that it doesn't need it, however.

An interesting review of a pen suitable for the defter/resourceful artist. For those amongst us (like me) whose dexterity is only up to swapping nibs I'd love to see a review of a medium priced pen. Preferably one whose nib and capacity you think is good to go straight out of the box with no modifications at all. Thanks again.

Reviews of mid-priced pens are definitely in the cards, but I've already done a few. The Narwal Demonstrator, PEBBS 456 and 355, and the TWSBI Eco are all relatively cheap, have great ink capacity and have well performing nibs.

Hi! Great review btw. Just want to ask what ink cartridge do you use? I bought the kaweco international standard ink cartridge but it wouldn’t fit my kaweco liliput. Thank you 😊
@mkompan Жыл бұрын
You’re welcome! You need to buy international short cartridges for the Lilliput, not the standard length.

Hi..so the cartridges have Indian ink in them? You can water color over the ink when it dries?
@mkompan2 жыл бұрын
India ink isn’t used in fountain pens. You can buy cartridges filled with waterproof ink, but the options are limited.

Hello😊 Which one would you recommend? Kaweco Liliput or Sport? I want a durable, sturdy fountain pen that is small enough for traveling. I’m a newbie to the fountain pen world. Three years ago I bought a really cheap faber-castell fountain pen which I use for note-taking. I fell in love with the concept of fountain pens. I also love that it can be eco-friendly and seeing your hack I’m not worried about the converter. My hands are average to small. I also don’t know what material to choose. Does the brass leave a metal smell on your hands? And what about the copper one?
@mkompan2 жыл бұрын
Hi Filip. Between the two I would recommend the Sport. The wider grip section and the overall balance of the pen make it more comfortable than the Liliput. As for material, the brass does leave a metal smell, whereas the copper does not. I find that the metal smell has diminished now that the pen has a patina on it. I don’t believe the Sport comes in copper, but there’s a steel version that is similar in weight to the brass.
