Nearly everybody writes everyday and it's an important tool, yet most people settle for the cheapest ballpoint that's on hand at the moment. This is a beautifully designed little writer and I can see the attraction. In the right environment this looks like a winner, although the drawbacks of water soluble ink, no clip and fiddle-factor need to be kept in mind. Great review.

Great Review and I second all the great things you mentioned. Great Pen. For the security conscious, keep in mind that most fountain pen inks (particularly those available in standard cartridges) are water soluble so less ideal for writing checks etc. A lot of thermal receipt paper won't take fountain pen ink very well or at all so keep that in mind as well. As these are about the size of a Fisher bullet space pen and clips for those are readily available in a number of finishes, you can add a clip easily if desired. This really is a fantastic pen that (air) travels well, doesn't dry out, and is a pleasure to write with, so terrific for EDC.

When you take off the extension , it's the same size as the liliput , only fatter .

+Nick Shabazz Do you think the Fisher bullet add-on clip would fit on this? If so, I would be more apt to buying it. My main concern with the Lili is the rolling aspect, rather than needing to clip it on. If worse comes to worse, I could stick something tiny on it--just enough to stop the roll. But this pen seems really great overall.

So happy to see that you did a review on these. I love mine. I have the plain black one and the more "EDC style" stainless FireBlue version that looks and feels amazing in the hand. And you're right its quite the conversation starter when ever I whip it out. And it always entertaining to see the look on the persons face if they ask how much they cost. Despite its reasonable price to us in the EDC world and Fountain pen people world to the general public 100+ dollars for a pen seems inconceivable.

I just got a Brass EF Liliput for application reasons. Having started using a Midori Passport Traveler's Notebook, I needed something with an EF nib that was small enough to carry in the notebook. Cartridges seemed to be the way to go in order to insure that I had a backup ink supply when I'm out in the middle of nowhere. The Kaweco Liliput seemed to be the answer. Guess I got a deal for myself finding one for $73.
@-BlueX Жыл бұрын
I carried the kaweco liliput and there was a few ink splatters. thought the cap kept it from going everywhere in my pocket, i don't really want to waste ink like that. The grip of the pen also got corroded or something, but the grip has black dents on it and things grow out of it every few weeks when i don't take off the cap. otherwise this is a great pen.

It's love at first sight. I love steel finish pens. But I would like to know a few things since you own that. Are both the copper and steel liliputs prone to scratches? And is it possible to store an extra cartridge inside the barrel?

@joywilson70007 жыл бұрын
1) Kaweco sells clips, though they just slide on, which can be an issue. 2) fountain pens work with capillary action, so writing upside down isn't an issue 3) Semantics, but a converter is a cartridge, but a cartridge is not necessarily a converter. The things you are showing are cartridges. There is no converter available for this pen :-)

Good video Nick! What pen would you recommend for a student who writes a lot every day?
@NickShabazz8 жыл бұрын
The Pilot Vanishing Point (review soon!) is a great choice, as is this guy. Maybe the Lamy 2000.
@saodavi62678 жыл бұрын
Yeah, the Pilot VP (or Decimo) is nice for people who write a lot. You can get the pen open and shut very quickly and don't have to worry about the cap, which is nice in a classroom environment. The only downside is that the capacity is relatively low. I think it's only .5ml or so. I don' t know how much you write but that may not last you but a week or so. Alternatively, a Lamy 2000 or a Pilot Custom Heritage 92 are piston fillers and they hold a lot more ink and are easier to work with. Both are worth the money, have gold nibs and offer a great writing experience at around $100. If you want something cheaper, look at the Lamy and TWSBI pens under $50.

Hey Nick, I'm a graduate student thinking of getting a good fountain pen. I love the design of the Liliput, as I want a pen that will be tough enough that if I drop it on my way to class I have nothing to worry about (not a diva ;) ) but some reviews I have seen are saying that it isn't exactly great at long writing sessions. What do you think? Would I be able to use this for light to moderate note-taking over a 3 hour class? I should also note that i do not currently have a fountain pen.
@NickShabazz7 жыл бұрын
I'm very happy with this as my only pen, once I got it adjusted. Beautiful thing. The only real complaint is that it takes cartridges only, but they're cheap.

Supposedly space pen clips fit the liliput I carry mine in a little leather slip case from kaweco
@zltn24084 жыл бұрын
I love this tip so much, I'd upvote it multiple times if I could. I had a Fisher Space Pen around, but the thought to actually even try its cap on my Liliput never even occurred to me. Now I just put the space pen cap on my black aluminium Liliput, and it's great, acts as a much needed rollstop. Be careful though, it's a really tight fit so I had to use some force, and managed to chip the black coating of the pen. That totally does not bother me, but worth pointing it out to take care if you attempt to try it.

Hey Nick, you getting into fountain pens now? I thought you swore them off because they're too fiddly (like your Sinn 104) and not as practical and maintenance free as the rollerballs and ballpoints you usually carry. So, are you coming around to the fountain pen club?

Nick, since you love the Lilliput so dearly, I reckon you must love the Kaweco Supra Steel or Brass pens just as much. They are essentially slightly bigger, thicker, heavier Lilliputs with a #6 steel nib, to boot. I’m besotted with Kaweco pens as EDCs. I have many Kawecos, and not single one of them has ever given me any trouble or grief. The Lilliput is so very fairly priced too, given its many advantages.
