Comment by Whitworth (and most of the sports media, tbh): 'if they don't have their best players on the field, they aren't as good'. Wow...brilliant. Here's the problem I have with that 'analysis' - if you take one of the best players off ANY team in the NFL, they aren't as good. Take Tyreek Hill away from the Dolphins, they're not as good. Take Cooper Kupp away from the Rams, they're not as good. Take Travis Kelce away from the Chiefs, they're not as good. And on and on and on. Why do people single out the Niners when they make these silly comments?

They absolutely stepped on the throat of the Jets. That's not saying much but everyone was saying they were going to have the #1 defense in the league. They doubled the yards of Tampa last week. The special teams took that from a blowout to a close game.

The other issue is special teams. Its probably the worst in the NFL. They're still a good team but not favorites to make the SB like past years.
