Thought about that trip often while I was there. Some things that I recall: We paddled over from Cushmans Landing (or similar small lauch point) in two canoes. The barn was still standing and sturdy at that time. You and Mark slept in the barn (or an out building near the barn). I think I slept outside somewhwere. . The mysterious amphibious vehice in the barn was in suprisingly-good shape. I felt like I was on another planet. Great trip. Do you have any pictures? What year would that have been?

I’ve never been on Mockhorn Island! I’m amazed at how many remains are still there.

Thanks for the comment. Glad you found the video useful. This is a great trip for an experienced paddler. Make sure you do your homework. Not sure I made it clear in the video; the paddle from Oyster to the homestead is 9 -10 fairly isolated miles, so plan accordingly. Check those links in the description for good info on the WMA and the history of the place. I'd also recommend something I did not bring on the most recent trip - a fishing rod. Yes. I only saw raccoon tracks. Had no problems with them. But have had issues with them elsewhere. Thanks for watching!

@@craigutley3316 I grew up in Wachapreague. I spend a many night on Cedar Island during my childhood and then again in my adulthood. My grandmother was the caretaker of the Accomac Club house. She oversaw the staff and kitchen.

Sorry, I just noticed your comment from a few months ago. I didn't see any ducks on that trip. I don’t recall seeing anything unusual that isn't in the video. I did enjoy the wide open spaces, the scenery, and the solitude. Beautiful spot. May have to return soon! :) Thanks for watching!
