It's a bit of a deal. In the north west areas. The highlands. Where they do a lot of fly fishing. I'd recommend Klaus Frimor's demonstrations. As some interesting systems of fishiing. And thinking about how to fish. That come from places like Denmark and Sweden. It's a little different. To what they do in America (all of the spey different branches come from something that guides in Scotland did). A long, long time ago. And needless to say. As it spread around the world. It evovled in different ways.

It's worth checking out. Olympic Penninsula Skagit casting some time. And worth even trying it out. Now that is new. They used that spey casting system. In the last decade. Pretty much all over the place. But it's really closer. To a type of line and cast. That a small number of guys. Came up with many years ago. In the nineteen nineties (that never really got translated into a production line and system). Ever. The advantage of the OPST system. From a point of view of these sailing and paddle craft really. Is stealth. In smaller waters. Where they've used the system they've created (rods, lines everything). For bass in many of the warmer water locations. And in many of the northern areas too. As far up in the country. As Wisconsin.

At the moment. It's right out there. On the cutting edge. And it has not gained. The kind of traction in the freshwater side. As it has had. A little bit. On shoreline saltwater. The advantages of lines like the OPST one. Is the ability. To throw some larger profile, bulky (less aero-dynamic flies and lures). That one might like to throw. To catch the species. You'd be familiar with. If you'd been in fishing. A decade ago even. Neither the kayak boats themselves. Of these new lines, rods, flies. For warm water fly fishing. Had really arrived yet. Someone in bass fishing. Is eventually going to. Pick it up as a system. And kind of run with it. And at the moment. It hasn't happened.

The spey clave demonstrations. Which they used to hold annually. In parts like Oregon. Were really to talk. About the larger rods, lines. For larger waters with flowing currents. The modern day variations. On that. Reduced down in scale (so that one can work in rather tighter room and spaces). When fishing for bass. Are really. A similar thing. Just adapted down in scale. To work with much lighter action fly rods (especially say, where you're objective is to try and work the fly in the water). Those guys who came up with it. Were steelhead anglers, on the cutting edge of that sport. But they'd started out really. Decades ago. As warm water bass fishermen. And after years of doing other things. They kind of returned back. To that origin place again. And came up with a tackle system for fly fishing. Which they explain. Was really something. They wanted to have for themselves.
