Oh I actually missed the measuring tape mounted to the deck of my Kayak. You can buy plastic sewing tapes from Amazon or Ebay for a dollar. I even got one that matched the color. I even installed a flat piece of plastic under the seat where you put the fishes nose to get a measurement. It's not exactly tournament legal but for texting your buddies about how big it was it's a nice tool.

Great video. It appears we live in the same part of Western Washington and there doesn't seem to be many fishing videos coming from the Puget Sound. I'm addicted to building things so it's fun to see what people build and use on their kayaks. Let me know if you would like to meet, some day, and try some new lakes in the area.

@@teedub127 I fish lake Sammamish mostly but I like Beaver Lake and and a few others too, I was thinking of heading up to Big lake because it looks like a potentially good lake for bass and pan fish. The rod holder the let you put on new tackle should be on every fishing kayak. I have always struggled just to reset my pole after a catch.
@pmm422 Жыл бұрын
I appreciate the feedback, the problem with this one is that it's vertical and wasn't until I got the Native Titan did I realize that the vertical holder promotes tip wrap. I spent a lot of time unwrapping my tips. but it certainly was way better than not having it.

Hey! Awesome mods! I love my Crank 10. I've done a few mods on mine also, but I was trying to figure out a spot in front of me to keep gear like, tackle and stuff. You just solved my problem! Thank you. Can you please make a vid (if you haven't already), on that peddle cover? It's the perfect solution! 😊

Actually no and it is a serious pain in the backside. I love this little kayak but the lack of room is\was a serious problem so I ended up buying a larger kayak. I run a Native Titan now.

Can you please make a more detailed video on the amazing riser seat mod you created?? This video was awesome!
@pmm4222 жыл бұрын
@ Cory Sheppard, Well the problem is that I ditched that modification for an adjustable swivel seat. The one in this video was not adjustable at all. Not something I would suggest for others. The swivel seat however is really nice. kzbin.info/www/bejne/iYSym3uHnNeomdE

Also I might add that maker pipe clamps work really well with this extrusion I'm sure you could extend that base pretty easy using those and some aluminum tube. makerpipe.com/collections/modular-pipe-fittings/products/t-connector

For your rod holders, did you just drilled holes on the side of the kayak? I know there are black circular tabs behind the seat for rod holder accessories but I'm thinking about drilling down those same exact holes with the black tabs and installing my own rod holders I got on amazon, what you think?
@pmm4223 жыл бұрын
You may want those connectors some time in the future, I would leave them in tact, I'm pretty sure there is enough real-estate in that area where you can fit the "off the shelf" rod holders next to them . Mine are connected to some customized Aluminum extrusion. Check out the video I did for my outriggers, for details.

I appreciate the comment and feedback, but unfortunately I sold this Kayak and I no longer have the sunshade to fill out the details on it. The frame was aluminum extrusion I removed from a patio furniture umbrella set and the fabric was Gortex fabric purchased from Ebay.

Where can I find the wide aluminum channel for the slide mounts???
@pmm4223 жыл бұрын
For clarity which slide mounts are we referring to? the ones in the back that the outrigger mounts to is actually something I modified to work. I spent a lot of time trying to find something inexpensive and sturdy enough and just wasn't able to find anything I liked. I ended up cutting a slot with my table saw in some existing extrusion I had to make it work.

The boat is looking good. Have you had any issues with corrosion on the hardware?
@pmm4223 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the kind words Daniel. Where I can, I use stainless steel or Aluminum. There are parts that are Zinc coated but I haven't had it long enough for anything to start corroding and to date I've only had it in fresh water lakes. The zinc covered steel will start to rust and will do it a lot faster if I take it into a salt water environment. Even stainless will corrode in saltwater environment it just does it a lot slower. Ask me again in a couple of years.

What do you have for the down rigger
@pmm4223 жыл бұрын
I have a video on the Down rigger reel: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hV6ZqXyhibSCf8k And for the weight I use a 3 pound lead ball, it is a little on the light side but most of my fishing is done 40 feet and above so the blow-back is acceptable. I'll probably go 4lb on the next one.

Dude, try velcro to attach crap. I velcro 2 waterproof tackle cases together and the floor. It's a sit in kayak.
@pmm4223 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the suggestion really appreciate it. My experience with Velcro is that when the adhesive gets hot some times the Velcro can pull the adhesive off and makes a mess but I'll re-evaluate.
