Been to Brewster many times over the years but only to fight the fires. I’ve always seen people fishing there and always wanted to try it. Maybe I can talk Blake in to making a trip over there this coming summer (2023) to fish it for a couple days.

Great video. I learned a lot. I just need to know more about knives. What’s the best way to sharpen a knife? I have a hard time with that. What type of knife is easy to sharpen? Mine gets dull quickly.
@spiltmilt
@spiltmilt 4 жыл бұрын
Good question. A lot depends on hardness and thickness of the steel used by the manufacturer. My Victornix blades are easy to sharpen using a steel bar between each fish because its a softer steel but they dull faster. I have a Kershaw blade that is really difficult to sharpen but holds an edge much longer. There are some really good sharpeners from Work Sharp that use small belts that can put an incredible edge on your blade if you opt to use one of those.

Steelhead used to be good on the Methow nearby in the fall and winter but those days are long gone. King fishing is still good in the same body of water now.

Does the boat activity on the water change much depending on the day of the week? I am headed up that way this summer, but I can do weekends or weekdays. I figure weekdays are better but also figured I'd ask. Thanks for your content too, BTW. I didn't know jack about trolling and finally limited on kokes last weekend. They are a lot better than the trout from the lake I was on, that's for sure.

Yes normally I run the Gamakatsu Finesse Wide Gap for Sockeye but in the video I am experimenting with the Matzuo Sickle Octopus which has a very strong offset and deep angle bend and I've been really impressed with its performance and affordability right now. amzn.to/2ZG4py8
@tmtallman
@tmtallman 4 жыл бұрын
@@spiltmilt I have used the Matzuo and have found them to be brittle on Chinook. For Sockeye I bet they work. I like the Owner No Escape hooks as well, they seem to be stronger than Matzuo. I will have to try the Wide Gap. Sometimes I like to mix hooks on a two rig, like put the Finesse in front and a Sickle in the back. Take care an thanks for the video!

Right now I am really loving my Old Town Topwater 120 PDL. When fishing tandem with my wife I use the Hobie Oasis. I really don't like the Oasis it doesn't have sufficient storage space, is not transducer ready, has a terrible turning radius BUT its the only tandem pedal driven kayak on the market with two drives and steering capabilities at each position that I can cartop.

Why troll at different speeds in different directions? Lets see some ocean content this summer!

Because in one direction you are trolling with the current and the other against. The speed of the water affects the action of the dodger.

why you almost fish with two rods .. I know that are most chances to catch a fish, but my point is that I saw your vids and you dont stop peddaling because your other rod... and your body is all of it twisted because you dont stop peddaling because your other rod. Im just asking with no intention to offend any body, it looks like u dont enjoy the fish you hooked because all the worries about the other line. Enjoy every fish men... forget about the count, enjoy every minute on water even if you catch just weeds. Good luck.. and good fishing
@spiltmilt
@spiltmilt 4 жыл бұрын
I fish to catch fish. It more than doubles your chances because the more flash you have going the more it draws the Sockeye in. I don't stop pedaling for two reasons: 1.) By keep forward momentum I maintain pressure on the fish making it harder for them to throw the hook. 2.) There are literally hundreds of boats around me. If I were to stop I would block trolling lanes, potentially get run over, and at a minimum create chaos. It would be impolite to stop pedaling. I still have a very enjoyable time on the water but that's because I fish to catch fish...not weeds.
