After launching from Cabrillo Beach, three kayakers spent more than 6 hours on the water and paddled over 16 miles. The destination was Horseshoe Kelp and the goal as always was to have fun and catch fish! If you enjoy beautiful scenery and plenty of fishing action… this video is definitely for you!

Love this channel. Part of what inspired me to start kayak fishing last year. With this kind of mileage you should be ready for Catalina Classic in no time (Catalina -> Manhattan pier)!

Haha… my friend Anthony has suggested that we make the paddle to Catalina on my 70th birthday, which is coming up in February!🎣🤔

Really enjoyed your smooth story telling on this one. I’m new to your channel and looking at picking up a Fisha 500, 555 or Pro Fisha 525.

Thanks… I’ve been watching your channel for years. When it comes to catching pelagic fish from a kayak… nobody does it better than you. I’m not sure how much you weigh or how tall you are, but I’m pretty sure you would fit nicely in any of them. The Fisha 555 and Profisha 525 have very similar specs. The Profisha model has some very nice carbon fiber trim pieces: rear fin, fish hatch cover, and rudder access cover. I love my 555. I’ve had it for over two years now and haven’t had a single issue with it. Having all your gear in the water tight fish hatch is a game changer when it comes to navigating the surf!🎣😃

@@losthorizonfishing107 Thanks for watching brother, sorry this comment got lost in the mess that is my channel. You know I picked up the 555. I'm 6'1" and 195 lbs so I figured the 555 would be a decent fit. As for the carbon parts, I will likely have some fun building my own. I think you put a bigger rudder on your 555, I am looking at making something 3x the size of the stock rudder. I also just got the EPIC paddle in, looking forward to testing everything out. I also really like your channel name! Nothing like getting beyond the sight of land. Looking forward to more of your videos!

I have a stealth 555 and pickup as well. Can you please share what brand of saddle racks you are using? What is your opinion of them? Thank you.

Hi William… the saddles are “Malone Mega Wings.” They can be purchased on Amazon for $143. I added a little extra padding to mine (using Dakine Rack Pads), which helps protect the kayaks gel coat. The pads are just tie wrapped to the top surface of the wings. I bought a 5 foot long piece of rectangular aluminum with a 3/16” wall thickness to bolt the wings to. That definitely helps support the kayak. I’ve been using this set up for over two years and it’s been problem free. The nice thing about the Malone Mega Wing is that you can slide your 555 onto the rack from behind your vehicle with no worries. It slides straight on every time.🎣😃

Wonderful video, from a courageous outdoorsman. Glad you all stuck together. I have an almost new 16' Bayliner CC, and my family begs me not to go to the Horseshoe. I was in Ventura last wkend and it was glass, even up there. Thank you for taking us along.
