I have a lake trout lake near my house that is closed for the winter and only accessible by kayak or canoe which i have pulled all my best lakers from, it takes some practice and patience but the vertical jigged laker from the kayak is so rewarding!

I always have to chuckle when you call Kenora "northwest Ontario" when it's about as southwest Ontario as you get. I get that it's north of Toronto, windosor and the like but Ontario is huge and goes wwwaaaayyyyy further north that LOTW. I’m a fisheries biologist tech at voyageurs national park and the water is insanely high on the namakan basin and rainy. Rainy officially broke the record high from 1950. Lots of lost homes, cabins and docks.. hopefully it will peak soon.
