Great insight into these models. As a canadian dealer for Crescent we have been very impressed with the overall value of the Primo. Nothing you don't need but also easily expandable for features like deck pads and tracks. Definately a paddlers kayak design and the more you spend time in the boat you will value the hull speed and the secondary stability. We have our project Primo series on upgraded to this boat including the NK180pro motor install!

I like that you guys give unbiased opinions. I have a Brooklyn Kayak Company kayak . I got a smaller model. 9'6", 1 piece mold, 50lbs, comfortable seat, 2 rod holders, 2 storage compartments, 2 accessory rails and comes with a paddle. I can float in 5" of water and can do a 180 in the narrow creeks. At 5'6" and 125lbs, it's perfect for me. They do have options for normal size people too.😁

The playful dynamics of Crescents are always pointed out from the same angle. Almost like it’s a critique or handicap when it’s the designed purpose. Probably bc most reviewing are primarily fishermen. Totally understandable. And you guys are really complimentary, so I’m coming at you with this lol. Buuuuuut.. I would be so bored sitting on a barge, so I require playful primary and strong secondary. Crescent is the standard there, I own 4 of them (LT2, CK1, Crew, CK2) and naturally biased lol. The Primo has a higher ceiling than the Ultralight and still a strong value against the CK1. Once you replace the bungee with track, add padding, accessories and it’s a lighter CK1 for $200 less while being a little sportier to paddle and more stable than the ultralight. I agree, high seat is a no go on the primo lol. I’m 6’5” and tried it Crescents really shine in variety of water we have in coastal Florida.

Totally get it. Personally I prefer the ability to stand and move around (without buying a “real boat” lol)

I keep my Primo in the high position. You get used to it. I almost fell out when I hit a rock sideways though. I suggest low in fast water. It's become my favorite kayak. Throw and go is the way.

One kayak I think you have missed which is the best budget pedal kayak for under $1200 is the Magellan 10.6 PDL. Technically it’s a Riot Kayak but better. I have owned an Old Town PDZl 120 PDL and Big Fish PDL 103 and while the pedal drive system is smoother with the old town the Magellan is over $1000 cheaper. as far as the big fish 103 in my opinion, the Magellan has a better pedal drive and is more comfortable and functional. I would recommend that you test one if you get the chance. Also, you can catch them on sale for under $1000.

How did you manage to mount it to the back? Thought going with the transom mount was the only way for this kayak to have a motor?

Lifetime Tioga. After all the upgrades (minus the seat swap), I'm still under $400. That's what comes to mind when I think of "Budget Kayak".

Budget is different for everyone. We haven't been thrilled with the lifetime yaks we have tried. So budget ends up meaning high value for the money.

I dare you to do a flip drill. Explain how a dangerous situation can turn into a nightmare. Which Kayak can you make upright again and how much gear will you lose or destroy. Techniques to try to right yourself and will you be able to get in again with all your accesories mounted to the sides.

Im not bashing the video. Lifetime makes a fishing yak and granted it doesn’t have a chair chair but for closer to 300$ In my opinion it provides more than the 600$ kayak in this video. It has cup holder. Proper paddle holder. 2 rod holders in the hull and a positional one up front.
@aaanglers15 күн бұрын
It definitely has the basics. However, having an actual seat is a huge upgrade for any kayak.

@austinhall4852 ай бұрын
@@RyanVoakes depends if you like moving in the water lol the catch paddles like a bath tub compared to the angler. I had to get a narrower boat just for ease of paddling in big water and waves but still use my catch for calm days or strictly lake days. I wouldn't sell your angler for it but if you can budget and have both you'd set. I got a tarpon 140 and spent 90% of my time In it this year just because it was easier to get from spot to spot.
