KAYAK FISHING | SYDNEY | HAMMERHEAD SHARK

A day for new things on a kayak - 1st time using my new live bait rod/reel, 1st time live baiting and 1st time hooking a shark...Otherwise pretty slow session, but always fun to be out on the water seeing whats what.
Meskell's lessons learnt : Carry longer handled pliers to at least attempt to remove hooks from toothy predators. I always feel a bit shit cutting lines but next time I'll try doing more like docking our 2 kayaks together to make it more stable than I could potentially deal with the hook removal. Live and learn.

What safety gear do you take on the yak? and what did you mean by surrounded by swimmers, do people swim that far in the harbour?

Hey Timmy, I always wear a inflatable life jacket and always have my phone with me and my Apple Watch can send for help if I get stuck. Usually I’m out with a mate who can help if needed. I also carry rope incase I need to be towed back to shore. I’m actually fishing the eastern suburbs so not inside the Sydney harbour
