Kayak, Fishing, Everglades, Alligator
So many alligators out there, I did more sightseeing then fishing.
Had a really great time fishing I-75 in Broward county.
There are so many boat ramps up and down alligator alley to Put your boat, kayak or canoe in.

I live in Fort Myers and have been working out there by Everglades City so every day after work I've been fishing those canals on 29 and 41. Tomorrow that's where we were headed until I seen your video. Now we're headed to that rest stop because I forgot all about that rest stop right there. Great video!

Awesome video! From South GA and planning to fish Everglades in late January. Where is the closest place to stay to Alligator Alley? Don’t mind sleeping in the truck or pitching a tent…can’t seem to find many campgrounds nearby. Thanks.

Thank you I appreciate that. i’ve never seen anyone camping like pitching a tent on alligator alley. They do have several rest stops on both sides of the highway where people do sleep in their trucks, campers, and so on. on their main rest stop just a few miles west of the Broward county. Sun pass toll they have bathrooms and night security. That’s where this video was made, i’m not sure if they still have the day or night security but it did make it a little easier knowing there was a security guard riding up and down the parking lot when I was out fishing. I’m not sure if you’re familiar with US 41 Tamiami Trail, they have a few campgrounds up and down that highway you can pitch a tent and then you also have Everglades National Park. they have Flamingo in the Homestead area and they have shark valley off of US 41 get on their website and check them out, they have some really nice campgrounds. I hope this info helps you out, have a safe trip. THANKS!

@@gen228prats thank you for taking the time to give all that information! I’m taking my ten year old son down there with me( I have a two man kayak I’ll be bringing) and we don’t mind fishing off the bank either. My last question to bother you with is are Oscar’s and Peacocks pretty prevalent in that area and will they typically bite in late January? Again I appreciate all of your help.

@@GABOYOUTDOORS You’re welcome! Yes there’s plenty of peacock bass and Oscars here in alligator alley if you drive a little further south to US 41 west of Krome Avenue to the Miccosukee Indian reserve you’ll also find Peacock bass and Oscars and even snook there.

@gen228prats

There's nothing wrong with using mono fishing line out there, I just have braided line on all my fishing rods and for a sinker that all depends on the bait your using and how your fishing the bait.

I'm taking a trip to the Everglades next week and want to do some kayak fishing in the canals like this. What type of rod, line, and bait are you using? Any other tips for gear? Thanks for the video!
@gen228prats
@gen228prats 3 жыл бұрын
Joshua you're welcome, thanks for watching the Video. All my Bass Tackle fishing gear have 30 or 40 lb test braided line so the diameter of the fishing line would be around 8 to 12 pounds depending on the brand of braided line but for bass fishing the canals here in the Everglades, mono fishing line is fine use any line from 8 to 12 lb test with a 14 to 17 lb leader just because of the structure like Fallen trees and all the rocks that the canals have here in South Florida. a small spinning reel like a 2000 or baitcaster will work fine, used a 6' 6" medium rod for the spinning reel in a 7-foot medium to heavy for the baitcaster, the medium to heavy on the baitcaster is for jigging like a Carolina or a Georgia rig around the structures you want something with a little backbone if you do hook into a big bass to get him out of the structure, I hope this helps you out.
