Listen, all I do is fish Lake Michigan for Salmon and I'd be happy to take you out and show you everything you need to know on kayak fishing for salmon. Feel free to check some of my last vids from this past Fall King run. I really smacked them up and I can get you on them as well. Tight lines bud

I recommend next time you ever come out here in the fall go to the Milwaukee river or any of the harbors and use a float bobber with either skein on it or spawn sack you will catch many more fish easily with the salmon eggs or a fly rod.

Hang in there Rob. The kings seem to be my nemesis as well. I’ve caught browns, cohos, rainbows, and lakers out of Lake Michigan, all from the kayak. I keep try for kings, but can’t seem to get it done. You can bet I will be out next season trying again. Some times, you just have to get back up on that horse. Hang in there brother. Yeah, it is painful. Reminds me my tarpon chase. I went to a trip for 5 days and had 150-200 lbs tarpons rolling around me, but no matter what I throw in the water (mullets, crabs, etc), they dont bite. Those videos keep us in touch with reality, everyone catch a big fish on youtube, but it is not always the case in real life. So, keep those videos coming. P.S. that salmon was almost in the net, it might be easier to gaff him actually, but there is no “if” in fishing lol

Don't feel bad I been going to the lower Niagara river since 2016 to catch these fish with very little success. My 1st trip out I lost 4 fish to broken hook, bent hook, pulled hook, and broken leader. Since this trip I hooked into 1 other salmon and landed it. The fall is the most difficult time to try and target these beast. Salmon type fish have been the one that I can't seem to nail down.

Thanks for posting this. Sometimes the torment can be maddening, but if fishing was simple all the time, it wouldn't be rewarding. Fishing Pere Marquette lake this fall in my SOT 12 Kayak Let me tell you, having a 20+lbs salmon on the end of your line in a kayak in a river mouth is pretty exhilarating. Didn't land any but had two on for 5 min apiece and it's tough in a kayak. Should've been more aggressive in fighting them 😅

Welcome to Salmon Fever! I gotta FEVAH' and the only prescription, is landing a King! I saw it on your first vid, you guys were burning those baits in and I knew it was going to end like this. SLOW, just fast enough for the bait to kick and keep it off bottom. It was kinda painful to watch, I was hoping you would slow it up and try different retrieves. I think you just got tired enough you started reeling slow enough to get a bite.

You need to fish your hardware as slow as you can the longer you can keep it in their face the better. Trust me that's the main way I've been catching kings for 25 year's. If your trying to get a reaction slow is key and like you said bright color's. Fire tiger like a J-13, arctic spinner, and thunderstick jr is usually king in my experience. Also your bobber skein it's better to run a single octopus hook usually a #1 or #2 size. Tie a snell or egg loop knot open the loop at the top of the hook and run your skein through the loop and snug it down. Stays on way better and make sure your eggs are cured.
