Kayak fishing: trolling with live bait or with lures? or with both?

Very often I get asked this question: do you prefer trolling with live bait or trolling with lures? I don't have an absolute preference, it depends on the situations you find when you go out to sea, and it often happens that these change from one day to another. Thus one cannot think of going to sea to practice only one fishing technique, but it is necessary to have one or more backup plan if those conditions for that specific technique do not exist, or simply if the fish we wanted to catch with that technique are not present or they don't get hooked up. In addition, not having much space on the kayak, the rods we carry must be able to adapt to multiple fishing techniques. For example, the rod that fished the most in this video, the Seika Deep Yak, is a rod for vertical techniques, which lends itself very well to coastal trolling, but also to bottom fishing or with sabiki.

You are very smart Fabrizio ! You are using on first rod yo-zuri deep minnow and on second rod rapala deep minnow. This way you are testing both lures. You can also put small keitech silicones on rapala rod instead raglou. You can also try this with normal xrap minnow and normal crystal minnow. Because they have very different action than those deep divers. Rapala has very wide action with lot of rolling and yozuri has very tight action. ALSO, in this video the calming music is nice but too loud, it was very hard to understand you. Maybe you can lower down bacground track when you are recording voice. Anyways, again great video, an ispirational video for the people that love light trolling and cant afford to go very far :)

Thanks a lot Jure. I use normal lip Rapala and Yo-Zury minnows in shallow water. But in 10-20 meter range water column I prefer long lip minnows, especially when I see the fish on my fish finder in the middle. I will lower the background music in the next videos.

@@trendsilver quella velocità la ottengo con la 1ma velocità e la pedalata. Altrimenti solo motore ottieni 3 nodi con la 2nda velocità. Poi dipende dalla corrente e dal vento.

Bel video! Che tipo di girelle usi e quanto lo fai lungo il bracciolo del raglou? A me succede ogni tanto che si attorciglia il raglou sulla lenza del minnow o sbaglio girella o lunghezza del terminale

Ciao Giovanni. Prova a usare le girelle Tubertini TB 6001 che scaricano ottimamente le torsione sul Raglou e sul minnow. La lunghezza del bracciolo varia dai 20 ai 30 cm, dipende dalla lunghezza della canna.
