I had one attack me twice in 10 minutes. First time it came up under the yak and lifted me out and the second time was when I was padding away as fast as I could. Spun the whole 13 foot yak 180 degrees. After that no more night fishing in Florida unless it’s below 50 for a solid week

Great video man! I'm considering getting a kayak. This has relieved some of my fear. When I was younger I used to wade bass fishing in a lake where there were gators, several of them. What the heck, no fear when I was a teen.

I was out kayaking lake Palestine in east Texas march 9, 2023, a day before my birthday. When I got into the north side of the lake into Kickapoo all seemed fine. I came around that island bend then I had felt a thump and then a few seconds later all I had seen was a massive gators head clamped down on the right side of my kayak. Me and my kayak got lifted and thrown about 4 ft up in the air. Luckily the gator didn't come after me when I landed in the water. I gathered my things under the water and put it back into my kayak. Then I went over to that island and just sat there trembling for a bit questioning my life decisions... I figured the gator was chasing something and I was in the wrong place at the right time. A few minutes later a guy in a bass boat and a game warden came over to where I was asking if I was okay or needed help. Told them I am fine and uninjured. The warden said, there's gators over here by the way! I said, ya think captain obvious?! I made my way over to the Kickapoo creek boat ramp and had a friend come pick me up. My kayak luckily didn't get punctured but now it has a lot of scratches on it. To put how big and strong this gator is into perspective. I'm 6'4 and weight 260, my kayak and my gear is an additional 75-80 pounds. Not going to lie at all. I was so surprised, scared, and caught off guard that I had pissed myself while I was in the air.

Generally speaking, gators have a healthy respect for items larger than they are. Re: If your boat/kayak is larger than the gator your probably looked upon as being a threat to the gator. However, gators can reach 13+ feet in length and over 700lbs. Yes, I've said before "I need a bigger boat."

Not the same thing at all. Africa has Crocs which are much more aggressive and will basically kill and eat anything that moves. Death by alligators is ridiculously rare. If you drive a vehicle then you do something much more dangerous than kayaking near gators.
