I moved to Houston 6 years ago and only once have I fished there. All my fishing is done on the Gulf. But the one time I did i went with my cousin and I got scared shitless. Pulled out a massive gar and what I was told a snapping turtle close to 200lb. We had to go in to pull him out. But the weather was chilly. No bugs. I dont know why more dont do it.

Just finished reading a book titled, Wild Houston. It’s all about exploring wild nature around the Houston area including prairie land, flowers and plant life, animals and park land. There is some historical information on how the landscape and things living in it have changed but a great emphasis on trying to restore native life of all types (except Native Americans). A very good read especially if like me you are a foreigner living on these soils!

If this is the spot I think it is, is all of that buildup from the recent storms? Normally you have to scale about 20 feet of bank on a 45 degree angle to get to the water there, it’s insane that it’s almost level with the water now.
