Cool stuff Thomas! Bonnie made the day a great one. I'm really impressed with her. I'm sure Cory shows you the ropes in handling her...nice job. A tip in her hunting "dead" when she doesn't have a mark on the fall: bring her into the area(where you marked it) on the down wind side. In that boggy marsh that scent should really carry. Like I said I'm really impressed with Bonnie, a great hunting partner! I bet you are going to miss that great Minnesota waterfowling!!

Love your content Thomas. You don’t mind putting in the work and not pass shooting the flocks tells me you do it right. Like to offer you a tip when jump shoot-sneaking… try using a short paddle in each hand. I found that keeps me quieter, drier, faster, and able to get my gun up quicker.

Great hunt! How would you compare this hunt to some of your Tidewater hunts? I enjoyed watching Bonnie work. She was well disciplined in the Kayak. It was impressive seeing that massive flight of mallards! I haven't seen that many ducks, since I hunted in Washington State on the Skagit flats. Another excellent video.

Thanks Bruce! Getting to watch Bonnie work was definitely the highlight of this morning although that big flight of mallards was pretty special too! I’d say the hunting out here isn’t quite as tough as back home. Lots more birds and a noticeable lack of pressured compared to VA public lands. There’s also a lot of birds that field feed out here so it’s a lot easier to make a move mid way through the hunt and still have birds flying when you get set back up

Maybe pack waders into the spot..Find a birm that you can get them put on so your deep holes your around there at least if you fall in you can swim!!!!! But it's cold so nobody does it!!! It's a question to ask

In recent years I've tended more towards jump shooting over decoying. Especially on unfamiliar waters, helps you learn where ducks like to be. Well congrats to the winner, guess I'll have to buy my own new calls :/ offer stands to come hunt NorCal rice fields

@@HokeOutdoors it's been fairly decent given the lack of weather we had early to push birds outa Canada and PNW. Per usual lots if greenwing, sprig, and resident mallards in early season. System blew in early Nov. and brought the masses of spoons, widg, gadwall, and new mallards. Just starting to get the snows and specks, quite late for them, their normal season ends the 27th and picks up for late season in Feb. Had Canada's early but haven't seen many more. Also we get lots of divers (buffle, ring neck, ruddy, mergs, goldeneye, but we try to avoid those except for the odd canvasback or redhead drake) been lookin for my drake woodie,, we've got a few jump shoot spots that have been know to attract decent flocks of wood duck. I know you probably get lots if offers to come hunt places, but if your seriously considering a CA hunt next season I'll do right by ya, my brother in laws family is one of the largest rice producers in CA (Chico/Lake Oroville area) and I love to show a good time out west! It ain't all ocean and palm trees, NorCal is cowboy country. I'll look into getting you my contact.

Another great hunt Thomas!! If I'm ever up that way I'd love to join you sometime. Ice is a great thing, but always look for open water if its around close, kind of hard in the dark though. Can you tell be the type of Kayak you use? Might pick one up along with a Jet Sled for Solos. Bonnie is doing spectacular as well!!
