I tried to count the amount of layers of CF, I think i counted 12. Also, in order for the CF to trully be stiff there has to be a insert that's sandwhiched between the layers, does that sound about right?

You don't necissarily need an insert to make CFRP stiff, it is very stiff on its own. Most kayak paddles (including this one) are hollow! 12 is right, nice counting!

Hi how did get get the mould? Did you have it made? Does the hole into which the shaft is inserted get moulded as a part of this process?
