this was an extremely helpful video! my wife and I are getting into kayaking for paddling around, but now I'm contemplating fishing/trapping from a kayak. a lot of great info on this! I appreciate the simplicity you keep, I googled kayak fishing and everyone has so much crap on their kayaks!

I have been contempating getting a cayak for trapping but was not able to get it organized. Limited space etc. Thank you for sharing!!!

No problem - glad it was useful. Kayaks really force you to get organized and really get rid of anything that is not essential. Hope you have a great season!

great you did this video as IV been a subscriber on your channel for a while and was hoping to hear your solid explanation for the kayak use. Im a second year trapper in Washington and IV contemplated for some time on a kayak or canoe and I'm glad to hear your opinion on it! as im in a cage only trapping state I was really interested in your project kayak/duck boat I think was last year and if you used it at all it looks to have a good bit of storage space for cages. sure wish I could use snares that would sell me on the kayak for sure!
@Meattrapper8 жыл бұрын
Yeah the snares really help going lightweight. Having to use cages or 330s certainly complicates things.

Cajuns been using them in bayous the swamp for ages. I have tried bothkayak an canoe nothi,g compares to a pero. You can build them any size you like for abt 250 300 $ i trap crawfisf 300 traps can put me and up to 400 lbs. You have to know how to use a boat

good anchor trick

Absolutely correct! It is definitely a trade off. Do I want the storage capacity for my gear? Or, do I want to go further into those hard to get to places? I can relate. I have used my square stern old town in my quest to find a hidden deer honey holes while bow hunting deer. I've also chatted with hunters that use kayaks as opposed to canoes. Interestingly, several kayak hunters use inner tubes to float extra gear or a kill in or out of an area attached on a rope behind the vessel. I think that might be a bit cumbersome especially in tight areas but could work. Anyway, thanks for posting.

You know, I have often thought about some kind of floating tow behind "trailer" for hauling out a catch. I have tried just tying beavers to a rope and pulling them behind me - but that just created a lot of extra drag. Now you got me thinking.... Thanks for sharing the inner tube idea. I'm going to see how that works!

Good info, and great video. I've never set my butt in a kayak, but maybe it's time. I've got a 10' aluminum canoe, and I dont have to get wet using it. Any luck spray painting some cammo colors on a 'yak?

Should be easy to do with some Krylon but I have never tried it. Good idea!

Did you ever try a pero.

Why not put a out-riger on it and find a way to float a cooler?
