Another fine morning having a blast.One thing about fishing down there ,you don,t get your world rocked as bad.I wonder if the striper,s have run upriver,because you usually hook a few in that section.

Thanks Jeff! The lack of boat traffic is the main reason I like fishing that area. Surprisingly, I have only caught one striper all year.

Hey bud need some advice fishing a reservoir water temp are low 60s there are 2 small creeks that feed the lake would you be fishing mouths of the creeks off the main lake or go back into the creek arms where the water is shallower and a little warmer also should i concentrate on the creek on the far side of the lake farthest from the spillway or would both creek arms be equally as good hope this makes sense thanks

Why not fish them all and see where you are finding the fish?
@dennisfarley65744 жыл бұрын
You mentioned the carp breaking water have you tried carp for bait? They are fairly oily and bleed pretty well.

They are easy to catch load a #2 hook with canned corn and put it on the bottom. One good one makes a lot of bait.

Another great video. I have experienced the same dilemma during a dink bite...do you stay where the fish are biting for the big one to get a chance or move away from the dink’s in search of the big one. Problem of course is that you’ll never know which would have been better.... keep it up

Question about your reel link...Do you use the 6500 series? If so, then why not the 5500 or 4600 series. I'm looking to get my 1st catfish setup for my kayak, thanks for any info.
@KayakCatfish5 жыл бұрын
Yes, I use the 6500 series. I used the 5500’s for years and liked them too. The size of reel you want just comes down to how much line capacity you need.
@Murdant5 жыл бұрын
I notice that you don't set the hook. Are they hooking themselves, and you just reel them in? Also, in what part of TN are you located? Edited: you just mentioned Fort Loudoun dam, so I assume you're in the Knoxville area.
@KayakCatfish5 жыл бұрын
I use circle hooks. They hook themselves when they take the bait. I live a few minutes west of Knoxville.

Nice video, how far do you live from the lake? Dinks are still action. Have you tried lighter gear for catfish just for fun,10lb. line 2/0 hooks?
@KayakCatfish5 жыл бұрын
Thanks Brian! The closest launch site from my house is 2 miles. I usually fish within a 45 minute radius of home. I use lighter tackle if I am targeting smaller fish but I’m not going to risk hooking a 100lber on light tackle.

How In the hell are you catching Flathead in the daytime? I can only do that at dams with jigs and cut bait that drifts by there nose. Young Flathead will take cut over live in my experience but only in currant. Keep these coming. I bet night with huge live gills or a carp will get you a record. I take a carp and cut it's fin off and a bit of blood. That brings in 30 minimum Flathead. I sure wish we had blues here..I think they are a bit more fun because they run and don't take you down. I don't play Flathead out I horse them in as fast as I can with as little drag possible to turn that head. Blues I can play them out .
@KayakCatfish5 жыл бұрын
All of my biggest flatheads have been caught during daytime hours on cut bait.
@MRSludgedude5 жыл бұрын
@@KayakCatfish that is interesting. I can do that all day and get a few channels and small Flathead below a dam but it's rare. I don't get Flathead runs until 8 pm to 10 pm. Then from 4 am to 6 am. It's usually dead from 11 to 4 am but I usually get one chance in that window. My brother on the east coast catches them all day too. He is in Virginia and Maryland fishing the potomic and they are hundreds but not many over five pounds.
