Kayaking and Fishing in Beadnell Bay with the Galaxy Supernova FX - Pedal Power. Kayak fishing UK

1st time out using the Cyclone Pedal Drive on the Supernova FX and It was very hard going until I got into it, I put it down to not riding a bike for Donkey's years and slightly unfit. You will hear me whinging at the beginning but does get better.
This was the second session out at Beadnell after the Motor broke down as seen in the last video, A few fish was caught with 2 keepers taken home.
Fished with Chris Davison, Davey Dodds and Ian Wandless all had a Good session and was great company.

Apologies for the late response, It was a killer to start with and I was goosed for most of the day, but I did find that the more I peddled, the easier (slightly) it was getting, But hope you have had good fun In the supernova, super stable yaks but heavy too. Good luck and cheers my friend..

@TonyKitchen471 cheers bud, don't get me wrong about the supernova. I did enjoy my time with it, they are super sturdy, but if I had to buy another yak, I'd be going for the viking gt.. 👍

The problem with propeller drives on boats is that they lack the momentum/ flywheel-effect that you get from the weight of you on a bike which means the cranks rotate at a steady rate, whereas in a kayak there's nothing to carry you over top dead centre.

Hi and apologies for the late response. This yak was a mistake for me, nothing but trouble and heavy. I should have kept my blue galaxy sturgeon. Lighter, and easier. But packed all the yakking in as you may have seen with the other video's. I get to go places I couldn't in the yak and a lot bloody quicker.. Cheers my friend👍👍

Was a good day though, 2 had motor's and the other was using a flipper drive, Honestly though it got easier as the day went on, I'm just so unfit at the moment lol. Glad I got another motor now.

@@ScrewsCruise-SIBFishingUK1971 I'm starting to wish I bought something with a flipper drive. Did Galaxy replace your motor or did you get something else? I'm thinking about doing a modification over the winter to install a trolling motor in place of the pedal drive.

@@Mitchinelli They replaced it and I'm on the 3rd one now, been out twice and so far so good, buy when I'm out, still feel anxious about it going again, if so, SIB time lol

Hi what's your opinion on the pedal drive ? Is it better than galaxy's flipper drive

The pedal, cyclone drive for the Supernova can go backwards unlike the flipper drive which is better if you're getting snagged when fishing. So I think the pedal is the best of the 2 for that reason..👍

I was looking in supernova pedal drive until i saw your video.. looks very uncomfortable, slow, exhausting. Maybe thats the reason there is every second pedal kayak for sale-supernova. Feel lost now, maybe need to look into motor+battery instead

Hi bud, I'm not going to lie, but it was a ball ache, especially when you're going against the tide. I reckon on lakes or even reservoirs it could be OK but I'm a sea fisherman. Them Yaks are very heavy and super stable so I would definitely look at putting a motor on it. I still have the propel 54 motor here that failed, could be just a minor repair but again, look at what Galaxy are selling, They have the mounts already fitted for the torqueedo motors but they are very expensive.. hope this helps 👍👍
