Great trip! I find that most outfitters are super professional in Michigan; they know about customer service. We did a similar kayak adventure at Mackinac Island where our family of 5 had individual boats. My wife ended up getting sea sick at the furthest point out, so the guide lashed a rope to the front of her kayak and towed her all the back! Gave our college aged guide an extra big tip. Randy, all my best to you and your family. Keep the adventures coming!

@@AmericasParks Yep, it was a beautiful area. I looked in the video to see if you included your dates like you sometimes do but didn't see it. We arrived July 7 and left the morning of the 10th in a pouring thunderstorm, which made packing up the camp loads of fun, ha. Didn't really see a lot of people most of the time--along with the kayaking one morning, we did a few hikes, took the sunset cruise tour one evening, and spent time on several occasions at a beach up near the northeast end of the park, not too far from Grand Marais. The sign at the parking area said something like "Lake Superior Viewpoint" but didn't mention a beach, which maybe explains why there was hardly anyone else there at any point. That was probably our single favorite spot of the trip. We also had a young lady along who is really into birds and wildlife, so we drove through the Seney Wildlife Refuge out to the east of the park to find loons for her. :)

@@rickramsey4134 Neat, Rick! We loved the east side too! Did the beach at the "lookout" - yes, sweet find and then the overlook at the "log slide" a little further east. Looked at our itinerary - we are at PR on July 14-16 so a little later than you.

Hey Randy! I was wondering if you had any issues traveling to Michigan due to COVID? I’ve been finding that a lot of states we are considering visiting at the end of the summer are requiring proof of negative tests to check into lodging facilities or 14 days of quarantine upon arrival to the state. Thanks!

Hi Jessica - there were no issues that we were aware of. Thankfully, no plans were changed and all the places of lodging honored our stay. Take care!

Thank you for the great video. I am subscribed to the channel, but I do not get an email notification when new videos are posted. How do I get the notification?

Great to hear that, Michael and thanks for the interest! I believe you go to the area on my homepage where you hit the "subscribe" button and now hit the "bell" notification. Hope that's what you are looking for. Take care!

@@AmericasParks Thank you Pastor Randy. I had tried that previously but KZbin prevented me from turning on the bell because it said this channel was content made for kids. I unsubscribed then re-subscribed and for now, the bell appears to be turned on. Can't wait for more videos. I've also subscribed to your podcast. Man can't live on National Park videos alone!

Is it safe to do this if you can’t swim , I can see the life jacket and some zipper
@AmericasParks
@AmericasParks 3 жыл бұрын
In my opinion, yes. The boots are stable, lifejackets are required and help is very close at all times. Ultimately, it's up to you and the outfitter. All the best!

Manganese* I think the guide said "magnese". Close, but sounds closer to magnesium. Different mineral.

Yes, in the lake, but not sure if the charter company will take it out. Their the vessel is designed to fit their boats. I'd give them a call.

Can older folks do this and not roll over in the water ..? what do they have to offer us older ones ..! Serious Question ?

The kayaks are very stable. It would take a lot to tip. If you do, you can easily eject and swim out. There are trained professionals there too.
