Kayaking to abandoned lighthouse

Exploring an abandoned lighthouse in the River Tay, Scotland. I took my kayak from Broughty Ferry across the river to the Larick Beacon aka Pile Lighthouse in Tayport. I have done this many times by SUP paddleboard and kayak.
The strong tides in the Tay mean crossing can be dangerous in a kayak, so don't try this unless you are well prepared!

I reckon so. I see plenty of sea trout jumping on Beach Crescent in the Ferry. I guess this structure would attract the fish

That was really cool - thanks for bringing us along for the journey! It’s in amazing condition considering the age and that the wooden legs are literally sitting in water. Very cool indeed!

I’m tempted to try and climb up inside still. Looks a bit dodgy but worth a try. Maybe one for the summer….

Looks like a fun little adventure. Its really cool to see these structures that were built with far less resource than we have now days. I to wonder how long it will remain standing, that centre leg looks like its on the death bed 🙂

@@tjashton it wasn't but if I'd spotted you there I'd have said hi. I just moved to the Ferry a couple of weeks ago but watched a fair few of your vids before i moved to see what's happening nearby. You've inspired me to buy a snorkel!

Nice one! I gather from your username that you climb etc. me too. Been doing lots of Munros this year and I’m often down at Vertical world without a belay partner. Built a wee bouldering wall at home in the Ferry but finding it hard to set my own problems.
